Just downloaded the demo and Savings looks great! A feature I would
need is a way to automatically categorize transactions based on payee
when I import an OFX file. For example, each Burger King transaction
would get the category "Fast Food." Any plans for this?

Yes, this is in the plan. Thanks for the suggestion, and hope you enjoy using Savings.

I would second this request as a priority.  Seems like a very effective and simple way to automate mundane tasks of assigning transactions (which would often have consistent descriptions) to categories.

Hope this is a feature that can be implemented soon.

Savings seems to have a simple interface and a bright future. :)

Regards,
Damo.

Damo,

Thanks for the encouragement. This feature is definitely high on the features list, but at the moment there are other features that are simple to implement and have been highly requested, such as the ability to transfer between accounts without creating two accounts. Also, I am starting development on the iPhone app for Savings, which is also taking some time away from the Mac version. That said, I intend to keep a steady stream of updates to the Mac version of Savings, and auto-categorization is not too far down the list.

Best,
Yi

Has this automatic categorization feature been added yet?

No, past year I was focused on finishing the iPhone app and the synchronization solution. iPhone app is done, I’m wrapping up synchronization now, and after that’s released will be able to revisit these features for the Mac app.
