Thank you and follow-up from MCA Bus Meeting Monday

A hardy thank you to those of you who attended the forum. We
actually
had 86 attendees early in the evening. If you missed the public
forum
last Monday evening on the fixed-route bus funding issues you missed
an
informative evening. However, no concrete solutions were presented so
we
need to see it only as a first step. One of our speakers, Michael
Kyte
has shared a few suggestions on what we, as concerned community
members,
can do now to help this process along.
Here are his suggestions:
1. Support the coalition that Walter Steed has put together that
includes
partnerships between the two universities and the city of Moscow.
Walter
is working behind the scenes now but the solution might require
public
support at some point.
2. Support the student fee increase directly to the Idaho State Board
of
Education. Paul Agidius is the member from our area and might be the
conduit to making sure that the board members understand the
importance
of this request.
3. Be prepared to continue this discussion for a long-term solution
that
could include the formation of a public transit district or other
mechanism to ensure continuation of both services and the needed
funding
packages.
4. Continue to seek understanding of the relationship between
transportation and land use issues, including both location and site
planning issues.
