just wanted info on what is the meaning of multiple entries eg. I see Arekere lake mentioned 3 times..

Also few of them are missing, like the 2 lakes near my house is not present.

Yes the things look incomplete.  We have to find a way to work with author of the website to fix the gaps.

But still it is useful,for what it provides now. 

regarding multiple entry for each lake : (1 of the folowing will explain as per my understanding)

1. if the lake falls under different survey number, they have created one survey map for each survey number. together it will provide info of 1 complete lake

2. sometime some lakes have common name - which may exist in 2 different location. that makes it confusing . so with survey number we can identify different lakes with same name

above is a assumption - not sure if it is right, experts may answer it

1 example is puttenahalli lake.

Hi all,

I have been working on compiling a lists of Bangalore's lakes and the names tend to differ depending on what source you use. I think Bala's points will help explain some of the confusion. In addition, some names are shared by different lakes (e.g. Upper/Lower Ambalipura, or Chikka-/Doddakannahalli (small and big)). Also, it may be that a specific lakes is located in more than one ward (or other administrative area that the Revenue Dept./Tahsildar's office uses), which means that the same lake could come up in different surveys. For example, I think this might apply for Sarakki lake (though I can't find that in the list at all).

These are just some additional possible explanations - I cannot speak for the accuracy of the maps. Others please chime in if you know more.
