Some details on Vaderahalli Lake close to Kanakapura Road

Hello All,

This topic is to inform some details about Vaderahalli Lake which is close to NICE road on Kanakapura road. I had been to this lake multiple times but during my recent visit I got to know some heartening details about the Lake.
Close to the lake there is a resort called Blue Moon Retreat currently its Urban valley. These resort guys do some water activities in that lake and resort is quite popular and it will be normally crowded.
During my last month visit, when I was walking on tank bund in search of birds, one of the Resort guy came to me and asked to leave the place asap. And he claimed that lake has been leased out by resort from Government and no one can come to vicinity of the lake. They even made a gate at one corner of lake and blocked the path from other ways to restrict the entry.
When I visited the lake 2 weeks back, I saw that tank bund extension has been started by Resort guys on themselves. And this construction was blocking the catchment area. Also on the other side of the lake where there was a nice vegetation and a hillock, which would be major contributor to water catching, is being cleared with vegetation and a track has been made. No idea if it was done by Resort guys only. Attached are the pics to show bund construction at the lake.

i just wanted to know few inputs with respect to Lakes
1. Can lakes be leased out by private firms for their activities
2. If yes can they  take up constructions in lake area on their own during this lease time

The lake houses wide variety of birds and resort visitors seen to be menacing these. I have seen them throwing stones at these birds.

Also, the road leading to this lake as well as resort from Kanakapura Road is been razed off in the name of widening and they uprooted many trees and bushes enroute. I think this Road widening was just at the behest of Resort guys as the earlier road was excellent and void of potholes.

Please provide the required info.

Dear Mr. Santhosh,

As per the honourable HC and is appointed committee (headed by Justice Sri NK Patil) recommendations, lakes cannot be privatises, afetr Hebbal & Nagavara. firstly we have to look into under whose purview the lake comes, inform them, mobilise/organise a protest, with support form local authorities, to stall further activities/development and retriev the lake

Yes, Lakes cannot be leased out.It is public property

Mahesh has already given you a suggestion which is good and practical. Such stir definitely helps to stall such activities.

FYI The said resort belongs to ATRIA hotel. Try to find out first what legal Rights they have. whether they have any document to prove...? Perhaps since you were alone also they might have thrown such claim. Do not work alone Take a group.

But I live in Bangalore North.....I am close to sankey Tank and maintaining it by interacting with the concerned officials, Local Corporator & MLA. Still it i a task. This morning suddenly I found lots of dead fish in the lake and stinking. Arranging to clear them and test the degree of water contamination.  & the reason for this
