Dear Friends,
We are delighted to tell you that PNLIT has been named one of two NGO members in an expert committee constituted by GoK vide Govt. Order no. FEE 368 EPC 2024, Bangalore, dtd 26.08.2024 (attached). The agenda of the committee is to come up with a plan to prevent discharge of effluents and sewage in lakes in Bengaluru. The first meeting was held on 26th Nov under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary. The task will be difficult of course but it is such an unexpected honour and recognition of our work on Puttenahalli Puttakere.

We, citizen groups, have always wanted to have a say in decisions involving lake conservation. Here’s a small window open for all of us, ‘lakers’!

We seek your good wishes.
Warm regards
PNLIT team

Dear Friends,
Many thanks for your good wishes and kind words. We are the only 'practitioners' in the group. We have seen how pollutants can kill a lake, ours. And how we had to struggle to bring Puttenahalli lake back to life. These experiences are what we plan to bring to the table. Let's hope the Committee takes our suggestions seriously.
Warm regards

Congratulations Usha. You truly represent citizens' perspective and have a rich experience of how to get things done within the limits of how much the govt can be moved by well intentioned people. I am sure that you will add great value in coming out with an action plan for preventing sewage discharge into our lakes.

All the best for the committee and hope they do a sincere work.

With regards,

Arbind
