Arakere lake Petition and follow up

Dear all,

The work for Arakere lake has almost come to a stop. I am afraid that without pressure from people around, it may not progress further. We now have signature collection from 8-10 RWAs and it is time now to meet BDA as well as corporator and MLA for followup. If we can come up with a strong group who can meet BDA regularly to keep the pressure up, it may force them to restart. 

Let us meet on this Sunday at 11.00AM at Esteem Enclave to discuss our next step.

Dear all,

Namma Bengaluru Foundation celebrates every month successful rejuvenation of a lake by organising a festival called “Kere Habba”. The aim is to create awareness about the importance of lakes. The last Kere Habba was celebrated at Byrasandra lake last month. NBF had planned to organise Kere Habba at Arakere lake in this month, but looking at the empty lake, decided to shift it to Madivala lake. Time has come to hold BDA accountable as the Rs. 8 crore was sanctioned by Minister and the allotted time is over.

NBF kere habba is primarily organised at lakes that offer good space and a decent water body. So Arakere does not fit into that and that is what is our challenge - to get it into a state so that we can organize a kere habba! I am also part of Madiwala team where we are organizing the kere habba on 23rd Jan. Lakshminarayan of NBF is informed about this. 

Yes, we have to hold BDA accountable and that is why we need to petition them and meet MLA. We may have to find alternate ways of putting pressure. These are the things we need to discuss in the meeting. I am sure that if we have a strong team, we can force BDA to do it. That is the secret behind the success  of lakes that have been rejuvenated.

Dear all,

We had the meeting yesterday attended by 7 of us. The discussion mostly focused on completing the signature collection for the petition in a week's time and then submitting it to BDA. After that we also plan to meet the corporator and MLA. It was clarified that BDA has pulled out of lake development so it needs to be checked as to which agency is responsible for Arakere lake at present. Mr Prabhu will check that out.

The petition need to be completed for the following apartments -

Pride Regalia - Sakina / Asha

Mantri Woodland - Narashimhan

Meenakshi Residency - Ramesh

Mantri Residency - Arbind
