to Save WRVU!
I was DJing at a wedding last weekend and was approached by Jim
Sherraden, the guy who runs Hatch Show Print downtown. He told me
that the Hatch folks would like to help us out in our propaganda
effort with some posters. I don't know exactly where we are with
posters in general at this point, but some colorful Hatch posters--
they are world-renowned, you know--would probably help considerably
with awareness of the problem. I figured this should probably be
coordinated with other postering efforts, so would the appropriate
person/people take it from here? I told Jim that someone from WRVU
would get in touch with him. He suggests that we fax him (at
254-5202) the information we would like on the posters. He suggested
that it be brief, not get into much of the politics of the issue, and
of course give a Web address and/or other contact information. "Save
WRVU" should certainly be the most prominent text; I would think we
should clarify that it is the Vanderbilt student station as well. Jim
said they'd like to make 500 posters and it appears they would not
charge anything. They listen to some of our shows at the store, and
they support our wishes to keep the station on the air. The phone
number at Hatch is 256-2805 but Jim seems ready to work on whatever is
faxed to him and get out posters in a couple of weeks, so making the
first communication by faxing the information seems like it should be
fine. If you need to get hold of me, my call is 308-9652.

I haven't heard from Roger in a while, but I have his hi-res graphic if they want to use it. I'm going to Hatch right now.

Not sure yet.

Just left Hatch, talked to Jim and everyone there and they are horrified at the thought of losing WRVU.

He took a copy of the graphic and current flyer info, and said it would be a simple design with not more than 6 words. He seemed to have an idea in mind and know what he wanted to do, and was in a hurry, took my contact info and said it should be done within a few days. I trust his experience with this type of poster concept and think we're set. I'll keep everyone posted.

Glad to take care of it quickly, things seem to be in a rather stagnant lull with our Save WRVU effort lately.

Let's focus on what is most important (example: lobbying the 5 student voting VSC Staff members, probably the most important thing of all) and keep on the ball.

If anyone needs flyers, let me know. We still need some funding for flyer printing but it is CHEAP.

In my mind, you shouldn't be able to walk more than 5 feet on campus or anywhere in town and not see another Save WRVU flyer or poster, everywhere. In all possible business windows, and all of those businesses should have informational flyers inside for people to read about the details and inform themselves.

Thank YOU Pete, you were the key factor in this.

I'm glad to get something done quickly. I feel like we've fallen to a lull and though the VSC gave a 60-day "delay", I feel like we've just been given an extra 60 days on death row.

At Grimey's we're selling the Save WRVU t-shirts and have a couple of the small radio tower posters up but I would love some handbill sized informational fliers that we can share with our customers.  So many people come in and ask what the deal is and what they can do.  It would be great to have something to put in the their hands that explains it all.

and thanks to Pete & Steve for hooking up with Jim and making a Save WRVU Hatch Show print a reality.

are y'all thinking we're going to sell these or just place them strategically throughout the Vandy campus and around town?

Cheers,
anna

I can take care of the informational flyers for you, and even send you the electronic documents to print some yourself if necessary.

Hadn't yet considered the plan for the Hatch posters, depends on a few factors, I suppose, one of which being how many they print. Hadn't even considered selling any though... we'll figure it out soon. Will absolutely be putting them up in key positions and depending on how many we have they would go great in store windows if there was room to put them up!

Thanks for the input!

I think posting them up would be a better idea. If we're not going to
try to actually buy the station, we only need so much money. This
kind of publicity is what we would use the money for anyway.

Well, I can tell you that I would love to buy one of these, since I'm out of town -- but I'd also love one to give to the kids at KLSU for their hard work on the promo for WRVU. (Incidentally, has that started airing yet? If you haven't heard it, it's phenomenal: HTTP://bit.ly/cQzCpL.)

bring whatever you've got to Grimey's and we'll give it very prominent positioning!
can't wait to see the Hatch print.
