to Save Soaring At Hemet Today
I've just posted in the "Files" section the latest coorespondence from
the FAA (FAA EX08182010) pushing their decision date back into Nov of
2010. This is unfortuate as delay is to the County's advantage as the
situation should minimally be reset back to how it was before the
issue arose...that would be the first step towards relief, consistant
with FAA policies, and level the playing field between parties.

There are multiple solutions to the glider issue at HMT, both
temporary and long-term! Glider operations are a unique category of
aviation requiring an expertise that few have outside of the glider
community. NOTE: There has never been an FAA mandated round table
discussion with all the parties present to air the alternatives. That
would be a helpful first step towards a resolution.

Our legal advise is to hold off on any specific action with the FAA
and let the wheels continue to grind as they may. What is requested
is as we move into the Nov election season, and the local candiates
start making appearences, DO ask them for their position on soaring at
HMT even if they have no power over the situation. Pressure on the
politicians is far more important than waiting on the FAA.

We are not giving up!

to Save Soaring At Hemet Today
Thank you for the update Larry. As August slips away, I was just
about to write and ask if there had been any progress. I remain very
interested and want to get back to Hemet soaring. It may be delayed
but at least it has not been terminated. I will be glad to do what I
can to be active in the election process. Thank you for all the
effort and I encourage you to keep the hammer down.

The loss of Hemet would be a major loss to soaring in all of southern
California and what you are doing is important. It is not just the
gliderport, it is the psychological impact on the soaring community.
I'm sure they have no idea how much damage they have done to a group
of some of the area's finest citizens that were safely enjoying some
of the best recreation aviation has to offer.
