Orange County's school districts are required to file by Dec. 15 for certification of their 2010-11 budgets -- classifying their status as positive, qualified or negative. Qualified means they are working to balance their budgets and negative means they cannot balance them.
Cypress is positive. Centralia (Miller, Los Coyotes) is qualified, so they are one of the 10 O.C. school districts that are working to balance their budgets and may not meet financial obligations.

Chief Business Officer Carrie Delgado pointed out that, in order to present a positive certification at this time, in addition to assuming two school closures, significant budget reductions will have to be made. We will have more information about the
budget in January 2010. The District is surviving this year using a lot of onetime money, including sweeping funds from categorical accounts to use in the general fund and using federal stimulus money
