Dear Cypress School Board,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to ask all of you to consider the facts that
you have compiled from each of the four schools visited. Please remember the key facts regarding keeping Luther Elementary open:
1. Luther is in La Palma and has a great community base which funds many extra programs for our students with no cost to the Cypress District. Many More students would gain these extra programs if Luther remained open.
2. Luther has been nominated for the California Distinguished School award.
3. Luther has one of the highest number of out of district transfers which generates more money for the district.
4. The city of La Palma has passed a resolution and is not in agreement with the closure of Steve Luther Elementary therefore, any plans for financial development on this property would most likely be very difficult to accomplish.
I know this is a very difficult decision for all of you, but in these hard economic times it is imperative that we make responsible financial decisions that will benefit all the students in the Cypress School District now and in the future.
Happy Holidays and God bless all of you as you make this very important decision.
Thank you in advance,
Delanie Lutu
