All,
I heard back from Truck, and spoke to Buck. Both are interested in
helping.
I've delayed following up with them until I know for sure which dates
are filled.
Any news re the Brenda's date?

There's been no response to my earlier post.
So, I'm going to respond to both Truck and Buck and thank them and let
them know that maybe in the future we'll take them up on their
willingness to help.

Ahhh no! I think we should go ahead and book them, since they are bars, not restaurants! A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, no?

I feel like even if Brenda's is on, there is no reason T n' B can't host events as well.

Just sayin'.

hearts,

Pike

Since we can't definitely say Brenda's is on and it is mentioned in our media release that there could be more venues added, I feel that we should add both of them as we can't bring in too much money to LM can we? One thing that I would suggest is that we should make these two places late enough in June so that we would have 3 weeks to publicize them in the media. If Brenda's does happen to come through and Brenda wants a mid-June Tuesday, the date isn't going to wind up in the 3 media portals that I'm tapping as it is way past the deadline. Thus it might not be a successful venue do to potential low turnout. This is another reason that I say BOOK'EM. (Buck and Truck). We should have special night for them and call it the Buck and Truck Night Dine Out Special.

Sorry Pike and Nikki,

By the time I got your messages I had already called Buck.  I thought about booking them anyway - but without knowing which day or week Brenda's was choosing, I had no way of knowing when to best schedule Buck or Truck. And the last Tuesday of the month is already taken.

Buck is open to maybe July or August.  Truck is  a bit more influx so we'll just have to see what they are able to do in the future.

Sorry for the lag with Brenda's...I have been reaching out reguarly.  Brenda cooks at the restaurant everyday and Libby (her wife) is 8 1/2 months pregnant.  So, they've got their hands full and I've followed-up with them every week, but not more because I know what they are up against.

Last time I talked to them, they said they would do a Tuesday or Wednesday night and that they would kick in 10% of everyone's bill.

Sounds like it might be best to advertise these dining nights individually as they fall into place - I think we had the right idea to organize them together and pitch them as a series of events, but coordination didn't go as smoothly as planned.

Nikki - can you send me info for the dining out events so I can get them on the LM website?  What, when and where.

Also, can anyone create a facebook page about the different nights?

thanks,

Nikki

Kara,

So glad you asked as I was about to email you regarding this as I noticed that there has been no mention of the Dine Out event on any of our portals be it both LM and SLM websites or face book.

I have a question regarding the info you need to get the venues up on the LM website. We also need to get it on the SLM website. Perhaps you can forward what I send you to the SLM web-masters so they can put post it????? I want to preface how I've been promoting these events before I ask my question.

To date, I submitted outreach for Andalu separately to the Bay Guardian and SF Gate. I submitted the the entire event list with all the information to the SF Weekly and put a notation (day, date and time TBD) next to Brenda's. This morning, I submitted Front Porch separately to the Bay Guardian and will submit it to the SF weekly and SF gate separately tonight or tomorrow morning as time allows. I decided to do the outreach on a venue by venue basis moving forward as it is unrealistic to keep submitting Brenda's without a day and date.

My question is do you want the entire outreach information as submitted to SF Weekly for example or each of the separate outreach information submissions for the two venues (Andalu 6/13 and The Front Porch 6/21) that I have submitted to date? I ask this partly because the wording or general content differs depending on the venue and the particular media to which I submit the information. Or would you simply want the general information for all the venues?

My hunch is that it would be best to post each venue on the websites in descending chronological order separately under the DINE OUT FOR LYON-MARTIN tittle in which case I would send you the most informative two separate promotions for the two venues that were submitted to date in the next few days followed by the other venues as I submit them. In that way, we would be front running the posting of each venue on our website and face book pages by about 3 weeks in advance of that venue's event except for Andalu. What do you think? Please let me know. I want to send you what work's best.

As a footnote, I'm thinking that we shouldn't publish Brenda's on our websites or face book pages until we do have a day and date. I'm also thinking that when Brenda and you do make contact to set a date, it would be best to set the date toward the end of June so that we can maximize the outreach in order for her venue to have the best possible chance of success both for her and for us. I pretty much need to submit event notices 2 - 3 weeks ahead of time depending on the media deadlines.

VERY IMPORTANT FOOTNOTE #2!!!!

The posting of the 6/25 Dance Church event on the LM website has no information other than the saying Dance Church FOB Lyon-Martin, El Rio, the address and the time and date. The informational blurb that I sent to you was completely omitted. Therefore folks who go the the website for additional information aren't getting anything additional. Can you possibly ask Karin to fix it?

That's about it. Aren't you glad you asked? If you need a new prescription for glasses after reading this, let me know.

Thanks all.

Nikki, the event listing on the LM's website is just that: a listing.  So, all I need is the name of the restaurant date and time.

I will follow-thru with our webmaster about the Dance Church event info.

thanks,
k

hi all!

i just wanted to let folks know that Dine Out has been added to the SLM site calendar. it hasn't been added as a full on post on SLM yet, so that Dance Church could stay above the fold on the homepage. i'm planning to publicize the series & Andalu in particular on the 6th, & follow up each week with an update highlighting the next event (similar to how the calendar posts were done). let me know if anyone has any suggestions for doing it in a different way.
