Melyssa,
I hear you're a bit under the weather.  Are you feeling any better?
One of the items from tonight's fundraising meeting is the dinning event logo.

If you still know a designer who could work on a logo can you put me in touch with them?   If not Pike may have someone who can help design this.
Let me know.

Thanks,
Cheryl

btw, i love the medical snake around the fork idea. i know some designer friends who do logos, unless anyone here might be able to do that/knows anyone that can do it.

does this have to be only sf restaurants? i am going to saturn cafe in berkeley tonight w/ tupocc (the united people of color caucus) committee of the national lawyer's guild. the owner is the husband of an NLG member. the restaurant is into social justice-y things. i can sniff around to see if they are interested.

is there any particular pitch associated? what are we asking of the restaurants exactly?

as far as SF food stuff goes, i'll ask my people and get back to the table.

thanks,
melyssa

OK.
We're targeting our restaurant campaign to April 15th thru May 1.

I'm thinking of maybe calling it  Health  Food (hmmm maybe the LM logo between the two words.  Or maybe a SLM combo version -  the LM logo and Medical Snake and a Fork) hmmm Anyway -
What do you all think?  I think it needs a catchy name.

So far we have:
Christine on Front Porch and Pi;
Kara & Jackson of Farm:Table and Millennium;
Cheryl chasing the illusive Ike of Ike's Place and Off The Grid.

(I was thinking today the new food truck / fair thing (Off the Grid) is perfect and lately on Saturdays they've been on the piece of McCoppin west of Valencia right near the clinic so I'm putting that on my list unless someone has a more direct connection - I'll be cold calling whoever I can find as rep for Off the Grid.

Any other restaurant/cafe connections?  - lets get a few more if we can.

EXCERPT

i'm excited about the restaurants thing, too! i'll talk to FP & Pi about scheduling something in the second half of the month, & will mention that we're working on other restaurants for the same time period, too. :) and i say let's just proceed on all fronts at once, rather than wait for FP to confirm, particularly as i'm going out of town to see family tomorrow morning through tuesday night -- seems like it'd be better to get things moving on Milennium & Farm::Table sooner rather than later. know what i mean? do you think that would have less oomph?

As for the RESTAURANT idea.  I'm feeling very excited by this.
How about we aim for  April 15 (Friday)-May 1 (Sunday). And see if we can get everyone into those dates.   Should we finalize Front Porch first and then ask Kara to approach the two restaurants she knows?  You might also check with Front Porch to see if they like the idea of several restaurants participating.  I would think they would but I'd like to get their perspective.

What do you think?

hi!

cool! i'm also working on Pi Bar on Valencia -- the owner offered to do the same sort of thing: %of proceeds, we can put donation cans on the bar, etc.  No dates for either of them yet. One of the things i'm excited about with these two places (& which i suspect is true for milennium & farm table, as well) is that they have their own following independent of publicity we will do -- they're both packed several nights of the week all on their own, so while there will likely be some folks there who have already heard about (& hopefully donated to) L-M, there will also be a bunch of people there who haven't, so we get to hit up folks we haven't been able to reach yet. :)

i like the idea of doing all of them in a given week/two weeks, but i'm also thinking that we might be at the mercy of the owner's/restaurant's calendar a bit. so, i say let's maybe set a rough target time period (second half of april? middle two weeks in april?), & try to get stuff lined up into that, but obviously if it doesn't work, we should just move ahead with them as individual events. that's my two cents. what do you think?

oh, also, i won't be at the meeting tonight -- do you, by any chance, have a preview into our progress digging into the $200k, &/or how the NCLR appeal did? :)

Christine,

Hi!  At tonight's Fundraising working group we talked about the restaurant fundraisng and Front Porch, and it seems Kara and Jackson have connections at two restaurants - Millennium and Farm Table, so maybe we really could do a few places around the city during the same week or two weeks.

Do we have a date from Front Porch?  I couldn't remember if when you said you might know.  Do you think it would be a good idea to do all the food places during a two week period? or one week?
