community survey!

hey folks,

as was discussed at the meeting last friday, i drafted an online
survey that we can send out widely to see what kind of interest and
community support there would be to reopen ludgate's, perhaps in a new
form.

before we start sending it out, i want to give everyone on this list a
chance to weigh in, especially the current owners. so please check out
the link and send me any feedback by the end of the day tomorrow. the
free survey software i used is limited to 10 questions, so please be
aware that i can't add additional questions. also, please note that
this is not meant to be a thorough market study. it's just a quick way
to see how much support and capital is out there so we can be
realistic about what can be accomplished in the coming months.

Since I just recently learned about the Ludgate discussions and have not had a chance to participate in person, I can only assume that the survey you've drafted covers the main points that have been talking about. From reading the posts on the Google group, that certainly appears to be true. I have just a couple of minor editing suggestions;

instead of "regular produce" I suggest "non-organic produce" (when organic is distinguished from regular, it ends up sounding like organic is "irregular" ).

Give some examples of bulk foods: e.g., "bulk foods -- spices, grains, nuts, etc."

Add coffee to the list of what people go to Ludgates to buy (a cup of organic french roast coffee was one of my most frequent reasons to stop in, and while in the store I usually purchased other items too

I will add a comment to the google group indicating that I am willing to be on a board of directors/steering committee. Thanks for your work on this worthy effort!

In question #8 I am not sure what you mean by "tool library."  I can give a good guess but I think you should add a note or rephrase.

My guess is a tool library is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tool-lending_libraries  Maybe you can even use this link in the survey question?

We can also see this survey as an opportunity to engage and inform other people.  Maybe add more words in the already wonderful introduction that will use sentence like:   

In the current state of the economy when gas prices go up and more people are looking to buy local it makes sense to have store like Ludgates Farm around.  It could become a thriving place where people from East Hill could buy what they need.
