Somepublic comments that we can make as examples
of Administration’s failure to foster respect on campus
Students employees are still
being paid less than San Francisco's
minimum wage.
While teacher’s were making painful concessions at the
negotiating table last fall, they found out later that at the same time the administration
was offering new administrators inflated salaries substantially above approved
pay scales.
A very
condescending and disrespectful letter to the president of the faculty union
was posted on the CCSF home page for two weeks.
The Special
Trustee With Extraordinary Powers continues to refuse to hold open and public
board meetings where public comment can be offered and recorded.
Instead of
being willing to meet and talk with students, the administration chose to have police
officers with questionable orders "greet" them when they come to
Conlan Hall to peacefully protest.
In the
Chancellor’s press release of March 14, 2014, he publicly accused students of
being violent, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
In the same press release, the
chancellor credits the STWEP with successfully negotiating employment
agreements for all bargaining units. However, the district remains in very
difficult and contentious labor negotiations with the Department Chair Council.
In the same press release, the
chancellor credits the STWEP with suspending construction of new facilities and
redirecting funds to refurbish existing buildings. In fact there was absolutely
no fiscal reason to cancel the Performing
Arts Education
Center and furthermore, it was a
betrayal of the San Francisco
voters. A question remains whether that redirection of the bond funds was even
legal.
The administration has continued to participate in a
completely non-transparent and potentially illegal accreditation process that
has been used to completely reorganize the college, downsize it, reduce democratic
structures and install outsiders who have no idea of the history, values or
culture of CCSF.
The administration has failed to challenge the abuse of power
by the ACCJC and demand that the ACCJC comply with the law, their own
guidelines and regulations of the U.S. Department of Education.
