Hi everyone,

I am interested in using Med Savant; however it uses ICE for it's backend database. It seems as if ICE development hasn't been keeping pace with more recent releases of Ubuntu or even Fedora Core and I've had difficulty setting up a local installation or building from the source. The ICE boards haven't been particularly helpful. Does anyone here have ICE installed on Ubuntu 10.04 (or newer) or Fedora Core 6?

Hi Daniel,

As you may have seen, the OS requirements for ICE are listed here:
http://www.infobright.org/doc/specifications/.

We've tested on CentOS 5.2, 5.6 and Ubuntu 8.04.

As an aside, we're ramping up for a full 1.0 release, which is more
stable and has a ton more features than the beta release. If you get
ICE working, I suggest building MedSavant from our SVN repo or waiting
until the full release.

Hope that helps!
Marc

Sorry Redhat 6 not FC 6 :) FC 6 would be a little out of date. I'm attempting a build from source on the Redhat server we currently have, hopefully it will work. Either that or ICE will decide to upgrade their support to the most recent versions of some distros.

I had this problem too. Don't know if you use AWS but I did find this image that as ICE friendly:

Debian Lenny base (ami-9a6b9af3)
Description: Debian Lenny base, version 0.1
Status:available
Platform:Debian
Image size:10 GB
Visibility: Public
Owner:undefined (702076609359)

   Dear colleagues,

I have put together a Savant plugin to predict aberrant splicing events induced by genomic variants as could be found here http://prevmed.big.ac.cn/SplicingModeling.html . I hope this plugin could be included to Savant plugins repository. I will continue working on its improved version, please send me comments/suggestions.

   Sincerely,

   Alexander

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for submitting your plugin, it's fantastic! The plugin is now available in our repository, and accessible to all Savant users. I encourage interested users to try it out, and submit their feedback.

Thanks for making Savant even better!
Marc
