to Savannah Sacred Harp Singers
Greetings,
I am writing to let you know that the singing at Judy Gauthier's
scheduled for tomorrow night has been canceled.
I know that Frank is going to Charleston this Saturday, and if he'll
let me, I will ride with him. There may be room for other riders as
well. Contact Frank.
For our upcoming all-day sing, everyone that wants to will get to lead
at 4 songs. Take this opportunity to go ahead and pick out and
practice your songs so that you will be ready to go when called on.
This way we can get through as many leaders and songs as possible.
Also, remember that we don't need to bring covered dishes since the
church is having the barbecue sale that day.
Here's a note from Buck Lea...
"Ellen and I just returned from NYC visiting our son who lives and
works there. We went to the annual Manhattan all day sing on
Saturday. There were between 150 and 200 singers present throughout
the day. It was a great sing with a lot of good singers. However, I
found that I missed the presence of the “old timers”, the ones who
have sung all their life and grown up with the music. Judy Caudle was
there along with Elene Stovall, who led the singing school the night
before, but they were dwarfed in the numbers. I don’t think that
affected the sing, but for me the atmosphere was a bit different."
Looking forward to singing with you soon.
