Good morning,

both my28msec.com and portal.28msec.com are currently down, at least since yesterday.

Is this a temporary failure, or is the service being shut down?

Thanks
Gunther

my28msec.com doesn’t seem down, but if I try http://socialito.my28msec.com that returns an error. A backwards-compatibility issue, since I didn’t update that project for years, while the server has been upgraded with each release..

If you have the same issue, you might need to recompile and deploy with latest tools..

Cheers,

Geert

Hi Geert,

thanks for your hint. However I do believe that

   - there is no download site for Sausalito tooling any more
   - the latest is 2.3 (I used that when I last deployed in September or October)
   - for administration of my app, I would need portal.28msec.com, which returns a 503

So I was suspecting a different reason than a version change.

It is just one application that I am running on the my28msec platform, and I am fine with moving it elsewhere. I'd just like to know whether the time has come to do so.

Best regards
Gunther

Ah right, I had similar problems. I believe I lost my access to portal.28msec.com altogether.. L

But with regard to tooling, William Candillon gave me a new copy of Sausalito tools with which it should work. You could also consider recreating it on 28.io. Easy to setup, and free for small projects..

@William, care to comment?

Cheers,

Geert

Hi,

Indeed we shutdown our old infrastructure this week.
While 28.io looks quite different from the old "Sausalito" versions
and isn't backward compatible, we believe that there are strong
benefits to move to this new infrastructure.

The paradigm for building apps is dramatically different now but the
technology is much stronger I believe.

I would love to discuss these aspects in more details if you are interested.

Kind regards,

William

Hi William,

thank you for the confirmation, and thanks for your offer to help with moving forward
to 28.io

The app that I was still maintaining at my28msec.com is the Railroad Diagram
Generator, which appears to have gained quite some popularity. An alternative
platform for running it on is already functional now, so I will take this opportunity
to declare it having moved to http://bottlecaps.de/rr officially.

Thank you for hosting it over 3 years, and for all the support that you have been
providing during that period. I am sure that we will continue talking about related
matters, and I'll be glad to cooperate again, having enjoyed that in the past on
every occasion.

Best regards
Gunther
