It is such a curious decision. While the announcement talks about a big patch coming at launch, from player reviews it sounds like the game needs more than just a patch. The announcement talking about more improvements and optimisations following after launch sounds like an admission that it won't be its best self when it is declared 'released'. That's what early access is for, you sillies.
It would seem we're in for a bit of a rollercoaster battle next week as Atari has announced that Rollercoaster Tycoon World will drop its Early Access tag on Steam on November 16. What's interesting with this is that the very next day sees the release of Planet Coaster, the new rollercoaster sim from former Rollercoaster Tycoon devs Frontier Developments. Planet Coaster is currently in beta on Steam (you gain access if you pre-order the Thrillseeker Edition).
