[Saudi Election Committee at WSU]

  Elections

The Saudi Election Committee at Wichita State University sets the following guidelines for current announced election by Mr. Mohammad Alharby. However, the Saudi Election Committee with the full rights in order to manage the election process will follow all rules and conditions that have been addressed by the Saudi Student Association constitution along with Saudi Cultural Missionï؟½s electoral regulation.

Minimum Eligibility for Candidates

Per the Student Organization Application and Recognition policy, an eligible candidate WSU taking:

• For undergraduate student: taking at least 12 academic credits and maintain a 2.0 GPA per term
• For Graduate student: taking at least six graduate credits and maintaining a 3.0 GPA per term.
• For Intensive Language Student: taking at least six academic credits with intensive classes as a part time.
• Eligible student leader must have at least one year left to complete his/her program of study.
• No person may serve more than two (2) terms as president.

Voting Rights

Only Saudi Students who are currently enrolling at WSU and general members who attended at least two general meetings and enrolled at WSU are eligible to vote.

Position: Saudi Student Association President

-Serve as the official spokesperson of the Saudi Student Association (SSA).

-Oversee the effective and efficient functioning of the Association as well as the enforcement of the Associationï؟½s constitution.

-Maintain SSA program objectives including New WSU Members Orientation, Saudi National Day, Eid ALFETER, Eid ALADAHA, Saudi Night, Party in the Park, and other activities.

-Determine the budget expenses in cooperation with the Saudi Student Associationï؟½ officers.

-Oversee the implementation of SSA programs and events, including scheduling, budgeting and advertisement.

-Cooperate with community and campus organizations, unless something conflict with Saudi Cultural Mission.

-Presides at all official SSA Meetings, including setting meeting agenda.

-Keep relationship with members, develop orientation for incoming members, setup opportunities for volunteers and manage communication.

-Develop Women activity

Election Process:

 Announce candidacy

• For Candidates Please send an email to (scb...@hotmail.com)start from Sunday Apr 22, 2012 with the following information:

• Full name, Shocker ID and cell phone number.
• Write statement regarding your interest for the position of President of the Saudi Student Association by English, Arabic, or both.

• The last day for receiving Candidates requests for presidency of SSA will be onWednesday Apr 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
• The eligibility to run will be verified and replied to Candidates.

Campaigning:

 Campaigning: The campaigning will start Wednesday Apr 25, 2012 at 5:00 PM. There are many options to present the candidates as the following:

• Send proposal to all SSA.
• Send Link of Facebook or Twitter.

• Send link of YouTube.

Please, send your campaigning to the Saudi Election Committee email (scb...@hotmail.com), in order to send or post at all SSAï؟½s email, Facebook, and Twitter. 

 

Please, everyone must bring the Shocker ID or class schedule with picture ID such as license or passport before getting vote.The Saudi Election Committee will send all information about Election Day, Time and Place.
