The practice of Yoga Nidra was developed by Swami
Satyananda as a means to provide deep psychic relaxation.
Modern day medical problems and diseases stem from
high levels of stress that the body is subjected to in day to day life. In
modern society, individuals are forced to suppress their natural reaction to
either fight or to run away from the situation - as our ancestors did. The
suppression of this natural tendency allows the stress to build up in the
body and this gives rise to diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart
problems. The beginnings of these problems will be experienced as stiffness
and tightness in the muscles in the physical body, mental tensions and
hyperactive minds in the mental space and emotional tensions which show up as
extremes of joy or sorrow.
Yoga Nidra acts as a valve that releases this
tension, allowing the practitioner to not only navigate life, but also to
make the most of it. Regular practice allows you to attain physical quiet,
mental clarity, emotional peace and to realise your creative potential.
Those who suffer from any form of stress,
insomnia or any stress related disorder will benefit from this practice.
