RENUNCIATION-A MUST FOR SADHAK
Attachment is one of the most powerful weapon of Maya which comes second to Ego. A newly born baby as soon as develops a little intelligence gets attached first to his mother, then to his father and all other people who come in his contact may be servants who love him dearly or his friends. The deep roots of attachment carry their marks even in the next birth. Many a times unknowingly a Sadhak gets attached to someone whom he met only once. Similar is the case of attachment with the different materialistic possessions. Though an alert Sadhak is fully aware that the world is temporary, transitory, evanescent and so are its inhabitants but unless and until grace of God enables him to loosen these bonds, he is not able to get rid of this malady.
Renunciation has been glorified by one and all saints for the achievement of God realization. According to Paramhansa Sri Rama Krishna, “God realization is not possible even if the slight trace of worldliness is there.” But is it easy to renunciate? No! Prarabdh Sanskaras, inherited Sanskaras and various other Karmas drag the Sadhak again and again away from loosening the powerful grip of attachment. Attachment keeps on shifting its base from worldly objects like clothes, food and other possessions to animals or to garden. Many times it shifts to religious books in case of a Sadhak. Also those who are Sanyasin and have renounced the world are not spared. Many of them get attached to Ashrams or their disciples. This very attachments provokes them to assert their anger, ego on the others who come in theirway (which they think so) it implement new modes or methods by showing little resistance.
Swami Sivananda says, “Renunciate selfishness, craving and desires.” They aremore subtle in our character. Even if one is not able to wear a Gerua cloth and adopt a Sanyasi mode of life.
Example- In case of a house holder, renunciation of vices is far more important and powerful than the outward dress and ways. Many people adorn a robe of Sanyaasi just to showoff and boost their own ego by telling themselves and other about their great act, but that type of renunciation does not, cannot help them in their spiritual progress. If a householder cheats, God pardons but it is an unpardonable sin in case of a Sadhu.
In the modern times a lot of such Sadhus have come up in the nook and corner of every city who have made religion as their business. They cheat gullible people especially women folk left and right and when they are caught red handed which ultimately is their destiny, leaves innocent people greatly scarred mentally. Whom can one trust?
Living in this very world among worldly people, mental renunciation is a challenge. It is also very easy if one does not possess any thing. “only those who earn and possess can dare to renunciate.” Swami Satyananda“what will a beggar renunciate? He does not own any thing!” By the grace of Sadguru these bonds can be loosened and finallyshattered if one is lucky enough.
Every aspirant of this path must make this his effort to start loosening the bonds of attachment. Even a single drop is important.
“Boond Boond Se Ghara Bhar Jata Hai.”
Donot forget this wise saying and keep on tredging this difficult but Herculean tasle slowly and gradually. The Sin of God’s Glory is all too powerful and it can remove even the thickest clouds. Have faith in the grace of Almighty and keep praying. “God helps those, who help themselves” is very much true in all situations of life.
“Break the bondage now! Delay means prolongation of your suffering! Freedom is with in your power! Get it!”- SWAMI SIVANANDA.
