  Folks!,

Saturday House has been a wonderful thing, and now
  we're closing it down.

Saturday House was a bold experiment, that created a
great community of Seattle geeks and beyond, that
will live on for a long time to come.  Hundreds of
people were introduced to one another and the team
work and projects that sprang forth from Saturday
House will live on for years to come.

Thank you all for participating, and we hope to stay
  in touch with you all!

I'll be taking down the website, but this mailing
list will remain for those who want to connect.

There is a new maker space forming called Jigsaw
Renaissance, headed by Willow Brugh, and backed by
James Carleson of Bucketworks; I see it as something
of a spiritual successor to Saturday House.  For more
  information, visit:

    http://www.jigsawrenaissance.org/

  Sincerely,
    Lion Kimbro

i don't know that saturday house can really be closed, as it is
something that exisits without any current attachment. its not like
there is a space to close, or any items to move. for the past few
months saturday house has been entirely nomadic. i don't know if this
decission was rought about by lack of interest or just a general
falling off in attendance. however whatever the cause i do belive it
is still possible to have saturday house continue existing. when
jigsaw renaissance becomes more tangable it might be that those who
are arround and still interested merge into that group. however for
the time being. while it might not be a formal thing. i would like to
believe saturday house is something that can easily be held at
people's houses, or appartments.

on a totally different note i somehow stumbled accross this site that
offers a multitude of the good old 8-bit computers as a kit you can
build yourself. this includes the apple 1 , and the kim-1

Thanks for that!

The few days I spent with Saturday House were incredibly rewarding. I felt
lucky to just to share the space and interact with such bright minds.

Jigsaw needs a prominent time and date.

Now, where shall I go to surround myself "intelligence on tap?"

Lion & Everyone at SaturdayHouse,

Thank you so much for everything! SaturdayHouse has been an
incredible experience for me. The people, the place, and the
community quite literally changed my life. The exposure to new ideas
about technology, business, and community has been fantastic.

Though things have wound down and the group is not a formal place or
gathering now, I'll carry forward the friendships and the ideas I
learned.

I just heard about Saturday house this year at Gnomedex... sorry to
hear I missed the boat on this one! I would still be interested in
meeting any/all of you at some point. Expanding my circle of
like-minded friends was my goal by signing up for SaturdayHouse, maybe
that can still happen? If there are ever any gatherings for
SaturdayHouse, or informally with the same people, count me in!

Joe

Oh man! I can't believe you closed! I'd love to talk to you about what
happened with the Saturday House!
We'll be documenting hackerspaces (mostly the rise, but I'm VERY VERY
interested in the fall) all over the country and will be in Seattle
tomorrow!

Given all this outpouring... Lion doesn't necessarily get to declare it dead.

I had extended a standing offer to host Saturday House in my building.
Can't do it this weekend, but the next few are viable.  I'm not trying to
undermine or usurp Lion - just make some resources public if a coup
were to occur...

Dorkbotsea has had two leaders so far. The old Weird Science group went
through five different leaders over its twentyfive year history. With
weird science, leaders burned out after many years, the group faded away,
then someone new would restart it, sometimes under a new name.

Copying from Bill Beatty Dorkbot Seattle....

There is a "hacker space" opening up on OCT 15th,

http://metrixcreatespace.com/

Metrix Create:Space is open to the public on 10/15

12PM to 12AM. 7 Days a week.

Tools, Tubes, Laser Cutting, Coffee and 3D printing robots. Capitol
Hill. Fuck yeah.

"Saturdayhouse is dead, long live SaturdayHouse"

I've been VERY busy at work lately, and while the reactable has been
sitting idle, I've not given up on it. Just so you all know...
