I've been pretty quiet about several issues that we have had since our boat arrived in May of this year, but I'm just fed up with the lack of Indmar help. First of all, let me clarify, our dealer has been incredible to work with and there are absolutely no complaints with the dealer (only can praise them for the crap they endured to get our boat up and running), but only against the lack of help with indmar.
10 hours later the damn alarm sounded off again and once again the boat is back at the dealer.... Indmar response--it's the exhaust gasket that wasn't seated right... Our dealer once again did what they recommended and replaced the gasket....
10 hours later that damn alarm..... The next thought was the heat shields from the spark plugs were grounding out causing the alarm... Heats shields removed, code cleared and guess what?!?!? That sneaky alarm decided to scream some more. So, once again back to the dealer....
Well after a long conversation between the dealer and indmar, it was discovered that the CATS completely disintegrated leaving bits and pieces all the way into the 02 sensors and out the exhaust. This is where I'm getting extremely irritated with indmar because after a stern conversation they finally sent new CATS in which the dealer replaced both and had the boat back to us within 48hrs (amazing dealer) but then I find out that Indmar is billing the dealer for ALL of these under warrantied parts (WHAT?!?!)
Currently, yes the boat is running great but except for when surfing the exhaust is so bad you cannot surf or sit in the boat safely. Off to the dealer AGAIN!!! Indmar response was the adaptive timetable for the ECM was incorrect since we had the CAT issue from before... So, dealer fixes it and we're off again to find out you still CANNOT surf safely.
So, this is my final issue!!! When you spend this much money and indmar says the exhaust is not their problem and we have to then spend additional money for FAE to be installed to safely surf... ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???? This should be installed before leaving the factory!
my boat is a 2016, with the 440, I'm having heart burn right now my self. I had the alarm go off my self, mine was the water flow sensor. When call the dealer when it started and made a appointment for a oil change and to fix it, they told me the same about the O2 sensor. I know I run my boat hard, and there was no way that it idles much. when I asked them about how much did i idle, they said very little.
Now after they worked on it, I ran the boat and it went into limp mode at WOT that the dealer said to do to help the O2 sensors stay clean. i turned off the perco and reset the computer. everything was fine. the next day it did it again, but this time the tabs stopped working. took it into the dealer. they said it was a low voltage problem and that my stereo drained the battery's. also the Alternator was out. they changed the alternator and charged the battery's. told me that my stereo was causing the problem. I have close to 170 hrs on my boat, the stereo has been in the boat before I even put it in the water. So I call BS
So the Thursday before i was going to pick up the boat, the shop told me it was done and all they need to do was water test it. I showed up Friday morning about 10:00 to pick it up and it was still in peaces and the where trying to update the MB computer. i was at the shop till 4:30 helping them as much as i could to fix the boat, on the Friday before July 4th. I was going to Lake Tahoe, had a slip, and people the where counting on me for a boat ride. now no boat.
last week still trying to figure out what up, they think that the ECU is bad, because i have the 440 they do not have one to try in stock. so they should have already ordered on today, ( I hope) more to come.
Oh, I forgot to also mention that our computer for the surf system went out at 20 hours also, in which they had to replace the whole unit since no one sent out a recall notice for a batch of bad computers.. Talk about frustrating! I hope they get you fixed up and back on the water.
It sucks that most these issues with the Raptor happens with MB. I have the Raptor in my 15 Moomba and it's been rock solid (minus very small stuff). I never hear any of these issues on the Moomba Forum. I don't frequent the Tige forum as often so can't comment on them. Seems like it's always the O2 sensor on MBs.
Indmar needs to get their crap together! I'm beyond angry that we spent all of this money and 67+ hours on the boat it's been in "break-in period", in the shop, and only a couple hours I've been wakeboarding and surfing until the exhaust CO2 is so dangerous you have to quit because its just not safe. Indmar won't even talk to my dealer about this issue now... Talk about some GREAT (NOT) customer service on their end!
Hours but not to that extent. It ended up being an O2 sensor in the bottom side of the cats. Dealer said cats was full of carbon and computer said boat had idled for 7 of the ten hours. No way this was the cause as I assure you the boat wasn't idled anywhere near that. Luckily our dealer was great and haven't had the issue since but the whole idle time really concerned me as that was not even close to accurate. Hopefully they will get it straightened out.
I laugh at this explanation. They keep saying that the exhaust and O2 sensors can't handle idle time. Then why put them in a boat? There are a lot of 5mph areas, coves, docks, idling back to the rider, getting the riders ready to go and loading the boat. Boats do idle between throttle times. Probably even half the time or more.
Does it say anywhere in the manual or did the sales guy ever say you can't idle a Raptor? That is what the service departments are saying that Indmar is claiming. If they keep throwing parts at it until warranty that is their problem, but who gets to pay after the warranty runs out? If that is the case and as soon as these motors are out of warranty I see a class action suit coming against Indmar and boat Manufacturers. How many times does it have to go back for the same problems before the lemon laws kick in?
I'm not promoting litigation, but they better wake up and find a permanent solution soon or it's going to get ugly in a couple of years. It will cripple resale on these boats and I don't just mean MBs. Most of the boats out there are running the Raptors.
If I ever have Cat problems I can promise I will purchase non cat exhaust and drop it off at the vehicle tuners place so he can tune accordingly. I do it to every vehicle I don't know why I haven't had him tune it yet.
The dealer came yesterday and downloaded all the run data from the boat and it's been sent over to indmar again. Yes, at what point do you say lemon??? or stuck with a product that is not resaleable in the future due to previous issues? I'm really curious to see what the next explanation. But, Like I mentioned before, I can't say enough about our dealer, they are AWESOME!
