I'm running windows 7, 64 mode and have installed Satscape as per the
instructions. I've verified that Java is current for 64 mode and Java
3D is working as per the support page instructions. Satscape starts
up and set up workes fine. Pass predication works as well. However,
with you attempt to use 2D view or 3D view you get the notice
"Initialising (2 or3) D" depending upon which you selected. At this
point it locks up though the UTC and Local clocks work as does the
data information on the main launch pad. Additionally, if you attempt
to close the (2 or 3) D view, there is no response. You have to close
satscape completely. Any suggestions?

Hi there, on my Windows 7 64bit PC, I had to install the 32 bit
version of Java, otherwise it seems to have trouble locating add on
files such as the Java3D add-on. The point you describe that it locks
up on is the point where it tries to load java3D and run it and for
some reason can't find the files.

A 64bit Windows PC will run both 64 and 32 bit software, and I don't
think you'll notice any speed difference anyway.

So uninstall java and install the 32-bit version, you shouldn't have
to reinstall java3D.

I'll put a note on the download page, as I think more people are
switching to 64 bit windows.

Let me know how you get on.

Scott,

Switching to 32 mode for Java did the trick!  Satscape is up and running.  It is faster and the graphics appear better.  Have to say I miss the Horizon view and Time Warp features but that's progress.  Don't suppose they'll be making a come back do you?  Do note that on the new Satscape you don't have any data on HO-68, so he it is in case you want to add it... [CW Beacon - downlink: 435.7900 MHz - mode: CW... Mode V/U FM - Uplink: 145.8250 MHz - Downlink: 435.6750 MHz - mode: FM... Mode V/U Liner - Uplink: (145.9250 - 145.9750 MHz) - Downlink: (435.7150 - 435.7650 MHz) -Inverting: YES... Mode V/U BBS AFSK - Uplink: 145.8250 MHz - Downlink: 435.6750 MHz - mode: AFSK.]  Hope this data helps and thanks again for your quick turn on helping me get Satscape back up and running. - Frank

Hi Frank,

That's great to hear that worked for you too. It seems odd that 64-bit
Java doesn't work fully on 64 bit windows :-)

Several people have commented about the lack of horizon view, it is on
my to-do list as it is nice to have another perspective of where the
satellite is located.

Also, thanks for the HO-68 info, I'll add that in a few moments and
see if theres any other new satellites that need info.

Cheers,
Scott

I am very happy that I found this. I was sincerely close to abandoning this product. After renaming the folder SatScape_lib to "lib", downloading Java3D (not mentioned here satscape.info/satscape), and then finding out here that we must use the 32bit version, BINGO. Now I get to playtime! Thanks a ton.
