My job with PrintPlanet went away in 2007. My wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009. I became a full time carer.

Samba is Dot's dog. Bonded to her with velcro. She is always half way between the two of us or sleeping near Dot.

You can attach pictures to posts or if you use the web there is a little image icon that will insert the picture into the body of message.

While I'm sitting next to Dot I do my blogging etc.

Hello from Tony!  Sorry to hear about your wife.  I'm sure she takes great comfort with Simba.

Question:  are all Sato's afraid of the wind and dislike going out in the rain.  Tony shivers when he can hear the wind and runs downstairs.

Also, I have to pull him out in the rain.

Just wondering.

Thanks

My Sato, Maggie (formerly Christina) who I've had for almost 6 years absolutely hates the rain and isn't too fond of the wind. Who can blame them, they spent who knows how long out on the streets.

Here's a picture of my little Magpie

Hi Chris,
I have to carry Lady down the steps and out to the street when it is wet outside.  She refuses to walk on the grass, she stands there with one paw up and looks like she hasn't a friend in the world! I haven't noticed her being afraid of the wind.  She loves snow, hates ice.  When I get her home and towel her dry she looks positively pathetic until her hair dries out. And there better not be any leaves or other debris stuck to her paws or she refuses to walk on them.  For a little girl who used to walk the streets she sure is a Prima Donna!  These are all some of the things that we love about her!  As I am sure you love Tony for all of his little idiosyncrisies.  Aren't these Satos wonderful dogs?!?!

Hi all,

It's Ruth in Seattle here, with Sato Lily, who is now 6 years old.  Am attaching photos of her opening box of mail order chew sticks and enjoying the beach.  She loves going out, rain or shine!! (What choice do we both have, living in rainy Seattle!?)

I am sorry to hear about your wife, Dave, and my sympathies to all who have had difficulties in the recession......

I found this group on the web.  http://allsatorescue.org/index.php  Does anyone know how it relates to the Save a Sato website, which I also could not connect to?

It's so great to see Lilly is doing so well!

Dave,

So glad Samba is still making you smile - especially her love of her wife!

Marcia,

LOL - things never change?

All Satos Rescue is not related to Save A Sato at all.  They are not a 501(c)3  - and they ship dogs from everyone and everywhere.  They are also very involved with the huge adoption events - including the dogs sent to FL many of which died - some on the plane.  Tiny underage pups were sent and arrived DOA which was heartbreaking.

Gloria Marti, President of SAS is on Facebook is anyone wants to get in touch with her.  She only speaks spanish - but I believe they have her page set to translate for her.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi,

Thanks for responding to my wind/rain question.  It's scary to think what they went through to be this frightened.

Tony is 66 pounds of pure muscle, but afraid of the wind.  Go figure.

We love him unconditionally, as I'm sure every Sato owner does.

Thanks again.

Chris

Hi Chris,
Lady is pretty tiny, she weighs 8 pounds, so for her to have survived the street for five years she had to be a pretty tough cookie.  We have found some bones on her that feel like they were broken at one time and didn't heal properly.    She is petrified of anything that looks like a stick, broom, etc.  She despises young boys on bicycles (girls are okay as are adults).   Basketballs send her into a complete tizzy.  The other night I opened a paper bag near her (how often do you get paper bags any more?) and she started shaking and moaning so badly that Bob had to take her outside.  I can't imagine what they could have done to her with a paper bag.  The stories that these babies could tell but I do believe that they are telling us now if we listen and watch carefully.  We have had her for six years now but she still has her bad memories.  We wish every day that the good memories would erase the bad.  How long have you had Tony?

Tony has been with us for several years and we were lucky enough to get him as a young pup,

His family was found under a tool shed and very quickly sent here to the states, and all were adopted in a short time.

Not sure why he fears the wind and dislikes the rain so much must be genetic or something.
