The Digby Production Support Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and delivering customer solutions based on Digby’s software and services. We are looking for someone who is deeply technical with experience writing code that has shipped and was deployed. A significant component of this position will be making changes to the Digby platform itself. Must demonstrate proficiency in problem solving and be a team player willing to perform routine and non-routine functions. Attention to detail, organization and strong communication skills are a must. The position will report directly to the Director of Solutions Architecture and will work from the company headquarters in Austin, Texas.
Digby is the leading provider of mobile commerce and mobile in-store customer engagement designed specifically for retailers, delivering rich and unique retail branded mobile experiences for today’s consumer – anytime, anywhere.
Key activities include:
• Developing a deep understanding of our applications and systems
• Working with developers to come up with creative and practical implementations
• Making improvements to the Digby platform and services
• Helping respond to critical customer issues
• Implementing required code changes for bug fixes, feature improvements and process improvements
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues
• Cultivating good working relationships with internal and external teams
Required Skills and Experience:
• 5+ years hands-on application development experience using Java, C# or other object oriented language with emphasis on backend/server side development
• Good working knowledge of RDBMS systems (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
• Strong working knowledge of web technologies including HTML, DHTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Able to work well in the face of tight deadlines and tough technical challenges
• Solid understanding of XML standards and best practices.
• Excellent skills in analyzing and solving problems
• BS or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science) required
The ideal candidate will also have the following experience:
• Strong working knowledge of JBoss and related technologies/products (JSP/Java/Struts)
• 3+ years work experience in the Business-to-Business Software-as-a-Service/ASP business model
• 2+ years working in the mobile sector and/or developing applications for the iPhone or Android devices
• Fluency in Mandarin would be a significant plus but is not required.
• Experience working with Chinese Development and QA teams
• Has worked in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
• Working knowledge of web based performance and monitoring tools
