किआ मांगउ किछु थिरु नाही What should I ask for? Nothing lasts forever.

इंद्र लोक सिव लोकहि जैबो ॥ Inḏar lok siv lokėh jaibo. Mortals may go to the Realm of Indra, or the Realm of Shiva,

ओछे तप करि बाहुरि ऐबो ॥१॥ Ocẖẖe ṯap kar bāhur aibo. ||1|| but because of their hypocrisy and false prayers, they must leave again. ||1||

किआ मांगउ किछु थिरु नाही ॥ Ki▫ā māʼnga▫o kicẖẖ thir nāhī. What should I ask for? Nothing lasts forever.

राम नाम रखु मन माही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Rām nām rakẖ man māhī. ||1|| rahā▫o. Enshrine the Lord's Name within your mind. ||1||Pause||

सोभा राज बिभै बडिआई ॥ Sobẖā rāj bibẖai badi▫ā▫ī. Fame and glory, power, wealth and glorious greatness -

अंति न काहू संग सहाई ॥२॥ Anṯ na kāhū sang sahā▫ī. ||2|| none of these will go with you or help you in the end. ||2||

पुत्र कलत्र लछमी माइआ ॥ Puṯar kalṯar lacẖẖmī mā▫i▫ā. Children, spouse, wealth and Maya -

इन ते कहु कवनै सुखु पाइआ ॥३॥ In ṯe kaho kavnai sukẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||3|| who has ever obtained peace from these? ||3||

कहत कबीर अवर नही कामा ॥ Kahaṯ Kabīr avar nahī kāmā. Says Kabeer, nothing else is of any use.

हमरै मन धन राम को नामा ॥४॥४॥ Hamrai man ḏẖan rām ko nāmā. ||4||4|| Within my mind is the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||4||4
