NewSat attended the AITEC East Africa ICT Summit last October which was held in Nairobi, Kenya. The summit drew thousands of delegates across the region, as well as industry leaders and key organizations outside of Africa, to discuss the continent’s emerging IT-based economies.

The demand for satellite capacity across the world is increasing and the ICT summit provided the platform for satellite companies like NewSat to showcase technology suited for Africa’s IT-enabled services. The Australian satellite company is currently working on its Jabiru Satellite Program. The first of the Ka band satellite fleet - Jabiru 1 - is already under construction, and slated for a 2014 launch. NewSat aims to deliver “new” capacity to the Middle East, Africa, and Asia with the ka band satellite.
