I'm wondering if Satchmo has (or if anyone has added) support for the concept of taking a payment for an arbitrary amount of money? For example, the user/customer would make a purchase (of a product?) for an amount they specify via a form field (like the fields for a custom product).

Obviously there's a work-around by having something like a $1 non-shippable 'product' that they can just buy whatever quantity of, but that is far from ideal.

I guess another analog would be the "donation" type buttons that places like PayPal support, except this is obviously not for donation purposes.

Any ideas?

Hi Darren,

At some point I considered using product variations to create one identical product with different prices (the option group being 'support').

This allows customers to select from a dropdown menu what price they want to pay.
