Product variations

I'm setting up a new e-commerce store and I have a doubt.

The store sells digital arts and the buyer may choose type of frame, color, and dimensions, each choice updates the price and shipping rates. Today, in my current e-commerce system, I register just 1 product and its variations as specifications. In product details I show the user the options avaiable.

I'm trying to do that in satchmo with configurable products. However, I realized that in Satchmo, each variation is a new product.

Is it possible to mantain the same workflow? Display only the main product and in its details page, show the variations for the buyer to choose.
