I have a slightly off-topic post but hopefully the community will help out.

I recently received an email from the company that hosts satchmoproject.com in which they notified me that they are going out of business February 16th. What this means is that I'll need to migrate the site to a new server. It's a pretty basic Django app with the blog, and store registration. I also host the docs there in static HTML. Anyway, I'm looking for 2 things:
1. Any good recommendations on who to host with?
2. Is there anyone else that would be interested in helping out with the migration and provisioning of the new server?

I've recently taken on some new responsibilities with my day job and am not sure how much time I'll have between now and Feb 16th to get everything migrated. If there is someone else available that wants to help out the community, this might be a good opportunity.

I have historically paid for the hosting of the site because it was fairly low cost and didn't want to run into any issues with "free" hosting from a community sponsor. I would be open if someone wants to give a discount but the cost isn't as much of an issue as additional help.

The code base is running an old version of Django and probably needs a bit of tweaking to get it compatible with Django 1.3 series. It would be nice to clean this portion up at this time but it's not a requirement.

Anyway, if you are personally interested in helping, please email me off list and we can chat about your background and whether or not this would be a good fit.

Thanks,
Chris

Heroku is super easy. You could have the site moved in 30 minutes.

Limped or slicehost for sure. I could talk to our president and see if he'd be  willing to pro-bono the hosting part depending in the amount of horsepower you need.  Will you also need git/mercurial taken care of or is that hosted elsewhere.

Don't get your hopes up, but I can ask.

Chris,

I use Linode and have had no trouble in two years with their service. The cost is very reasonable for the features provided. I'd be happy to help you get the system up and configured.

What about tossing it up on EC2 on a micro instance? Assuming you wouldn't need much, and it would be free. Or Heroku would be free for one worker.

I also use Linode, webfaction and slicehost. Slicehost is shifting to rackspace cloud, can't speak much for them anymore really, my server hasn't been migrated over yet.

Linode has been great, and webfaction is always quick and easy to setup if you can run in a shared environment.

Hi Dave,

I cant find anywhere if heroku is free for one worker. Can you post the url ?
I would love to give it a try before moving fully.

If you go to the pricing table (  http://www.heroku.com/pricing#1-0 ) and set web dyno to 1, it will say $0 (You get 750 free dyno hours a month)
