Change image on option/variation selection

Hi guys,

I'm completely new to satchmo but have a couple of years of experience
with django. I'm looking to setup a satchmo store for a client and I'm
wondering what the capabilities are for changing the displayed image
on a product when a customer chooses a product variation via the
option group dropdowns. Does it already do this? If not, can anyone
provide some pointers as to what would need to happen to make it work
(I can do the python+JavaScript), and perhaps a guess on the
difficulty.

Jay,

The default install of Satchmo does not do this. However, I know some folks have implemented this using javascript in the templates. However, I would like to incorporate this feature into Satchmo so I'm open to modifying the core views and templates to make this the default behavior.

I haven't had the time to dive into a more in-depth analysis of steps to make this happen but hopefully we can get some folks to provide some hints of how best to accomplish.

For those still interested, I put the basic changes to get the image into the variations JSON on the product variation details page up at: https://bitbucket.org/MartinEve/satchmo_variation_image

Thanks for doing this and submitting the pull request. I took a quick look and all appears good but it's always good to have another set of eyes on it.

I also think it would be good to make the template changes so that the default templates would include this functionality.
