Product ratings separated from comments

I'm having trouble implementing the current satchmo_ext.productratings. It actually works, but is very buggy. Furthermore, I don't think ratings should be forcibly related to a comment. Can someone suggest a better package or solution to offer product ratings on a satchmo site?
