VICTORY FOR SATAWU AS AUTOPAX GIVES IN TO OUR DEMANDS
8 March 2012

Over 700 members of the South African Transport & Allied Workers’ Union (SATAWU) at AUTOPAX can now celebrate in victory. This comes after the company conceded defeat and agreed to the following;

  • That overtime will be paid once the normal hours have been worked/reached.  It will be calculated in terms of BCEA.
  • Driver rotation will be implemented to ensure that work is distributed more equitably to all drivers
  • Double driver allowance will increased as from 1 April 2012

The dispute relating to the method/formula to be used in calculating the 195 normal hours worked by our members involved in double driving will be referred to the CCMA for Arbitration.

Given the latest developments, the parties hereby agree that the strike notice will be withdrawn and the strike action will be suspended with immediate effect pending the arbitration outcome of what is regarded as “normal working hours”

We can confirmed that all SATAWU AUTOPAX employees would be reporting for duty tomorrow and continue to work as normal.
