Hey everyone….it is great here at Harvesters. There are quite a few blog entries out there. I am sorry, they are long; but look at the bright side, they aren’t in your inbox.

More great pictures are up too…..again, not in your inbox.

The praise and prayer requests were going to resume today; but if you have a spare hour to read the marathon blog entry today, you will understand why.
in Him,
Scott
I have a special prayer request, and an urgent one. A baby was born tonight, but she is not doing well. The heart beat and healthy and strong, but her breathing is labored and not frequent enough. Please pray for this child. Pray that her breathing increases and she becomes responsive.
It is a little after 2 am, and mother and child are resting, and we will watch over them tonight. Please….please….please pray. I will let everyone know of any updates.
in Him,
Scott
Here is an update on the little girl that was born a little after mid-night. We brought her to the hospital this morning. The hospital does not have a good reputation, but I have learned that there are some very caring doctors, and one pediatrician who is very knowledgeable. The complications were too great for us to handle in the clinic, and even though the hospital does not have much more equipment, they do have the ability to x-ray the child’s lungs to see if the problem is visible. Please continue to pray for her. The mother is doing very well and is with her daughter now. Thank you all so much for your prayers and compassion.
in Him,
Scott
What a great couple of weeks. I wish I could put into words the menagerie of emotions and lessons in life. I try, and that is mostly out on the blog. Here is the avenue to talk about us, prayer requests and praises from all of you and myself as well.
To begin, the little girl born in the clinic the other night is doing remarkably well now. We drove to the hospital today to check on mom and her new daughter. Both have improved tremendously; they have not completely healed and there are a couple of issues still. Mom is not producing milk, and formula is not the greatest option here. The tolls of 25 or so years of war, the UN, and some good ol’ macro economics, the monthly cost of formula is around $100, which is also the average monthly income. We would really like the mother to begin producing milk. So, please pray for her and her daughter to continue to improve.
For me, please pray for safe travel to the city of Terekeka. Three of us will be making the 8 hour drive tomorrow morning to drop off supplies to Lance, who has been up there since February in charge of clearing the bush for a second orphanage. Also, pray that I can accept the cultural dynamics that I am not accustomed to. For example, the soft spoken nature of the Sudanese and the tendency to completely stop talking if I ask for them to repeat themselves because I could not hear; which makes it difficult to assess them and provide….well…any care for that matter. The serenity prayer comes to mind, “Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time one; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next”.
Prayer Requests:
· Many friends who are struggling with singleness, making the right decisions, loneliness, and simply everything involved with being single. Please keep them, and myself included, in your prayers.
· Pray for a friend who is going through a painful divorce, difficult custody issues, and the sadness associated with the revelation of hurt feelings on both sides.
· Pray for a friend who feels the Lord knocking on the door for a career change. Pray for a clear vision and guidance.
· Pray for a friend who feels ready for a promotion, and that the promotion would happen.
· Pray for someone who has been a bit depressed lately, is seeking more from life (in a good way), and coming out of their shell/comfort zone and being challenged. Pray that they are encouraged and given wisdom.
· Pray for friends that are selling their house and that process, good buyers, and good sellers on the other end.
· Pray for someone who was fired from their job, a new one has been provided and that is praise worthy, but the manner in which the last one ended was brash, harsh, and unfortunately illegal. Please pray for guidance on handling the situation, compassion, and healing from the wounds.
· Pray for a friend whose mother passes away.
· Pray for a friend who was in a serious car accident. They are physically fine and that is worthy of praise, but the car is totaled.
· Pray for a friend who is having troubles at work with conflicting personalities and in general folks not getting along.
· Pray for friends in school, undergrad and medical school, as the semesters are winding down.
· Pray for Sudan, the government, the conflicts, and the widows and orphans that remain in the aftermath.
Praises:
· Friends whose second child was born a couple of weeks ago. Mother and child are doing well, and I suppose Dad is too.
· I am having a great time and adjusting well.
· Safe return of family from a long trip they had.
· Everyone who prayed for the Sudan trip and those who were able to contribute financially. I cannot thank you enough, and I know that God will.
I think that about does it. This was a long one, but it has been a while; however I feel I have been appropriately busy. I love you all.
in Him,
Scott
