Victoria & Venebles: Rescue The Rocky Ridge Ranch

In Saskatoon during the Winter of 1980, Harvey's Run continued to
Watrous with "The Hit's" mother. They spent the winter and summer in
Watrous. Leo finished his Heavy Duty Mechanics course at Kelsey in
March 1980, then he moved to St. Brieux where he found a job working
at Bourgaut Industries. Leo decided that he wanted to stay at the
Rocky Ridge Ranch, and he was building the Rocky Ridge Ranch back up
on the weekends. Leo agreed to buy "The Hit's" portion of the Rocky
Ridge Ranch which he inherited in his mother's divorce with the town
drunk. Leo agreed to see the St. Brieux Credit Union to borrow the
money. Meanwhile in Saskatoon, Randy Piatte from St. Brieux came by
"The Hit's" place on the Eastside of Saskatoon. Randy brought "The
Hit" over to see a few of his new friends in Saskatoon. "The Hit" who
had stayed to himself for two winters in Saskatoon met Pat, Dan, and
Rob Collins through Randy in the spring before he had completed his
classes in April 1980 at the University of Saskatchewan.

In Saskatoon, "The Hit" finished his courses at the University of
Saskatchewan, and Leo got his loan at the St. Brieux Credit Union.
"The Hit" had been looking at several places, and he chose a mobile
home in Star Trailer Court on Idlewild & Circle Drive in Saskatoon.
The mobile home was a 3 bedroom, kitchen, living room, washroom, and
laundry area. Leo paid "The Hit" $10,000.00 for his share of the
land, and "The Hit" paid $10,000.00 for the mobile home. This left
"The Hit" with nothing left after the lawyer put the check trough the
account for the trailer. "The Hit" needed money, and he needed a job
quick. He talked to Pat, Dan, and Rob about renting the trailer for
the summer. They decided to give it a try for the summer as "The Hit"
went to St. Brieux to start a job in St. Brieux. "The Hit" didn't
have the cash to get to Lloydminster to get his RD 400 from the Yamaha
in Lloydminster, so he took the bus to St. Brieux. He started working
for Tim Woods at his apiary at the end of April 1980.

On Friday night, "The Hit" confirmed his appointment with Jack on
Saturday March 14 TH to check the progress on the apartment on
Friday. Then, he confirmed his ride to the house with Bob for the
next day. The meeting was set for the next day, and "The Hit"
remained determined to move downtown next to Commercial Drive to make
his stand. The next morning, Bob and "The Hit" had a late breakfast
on Commercial Drive before meeting Jack at 910 Victoria Drive. The
apartment was almost completely painted, however the stove still
needed to be replaced, and the linoleum in the kitchen still needed
to be laid. "The Hit" met Jack's workers Steve and Ray. Jack had
found them downtown, and he was paying them cash to help him fix up
the apartment. "The Hit" gave Bob money to pick up 6 beers at the
Liquor Store on Commercial Drive for the crew. Then they talked about
the apartment, and "The Hit" started to get used to his future
surroundings while they drank a few beers.

Jack, Steve, Ray, and "The Hit" walked into the WISE house on Adanac.
There was regularly a row of bikes parked out front of the bar when
"The Hit" started Envirotech in the early 1990's. The dimly lit room
bar on the lower level was almost empty that Sunday afternoon. They
were stopped at the counter / bar on the way into the club. The door
man smiled with recognition, and "The Hit" felt that he knew his
picture. Ray asked if there was someone in the bar to sign the 4 of
them into the house. The door man walked over to the two men sitting
in the middle of the room. The two men looked over at Jack, Steve,
Ray and "The Hit". It was too far to hear their words, however the
stretched body language of the taller, darker haired man did not
appear to be defensive. The heavier blond man appeared to be doing
the talking. The counter man returned to his counter, and he said
there was no one to sign them into the house. "The Hit" felt mixed
with relief that today might not be the day to stand up in the
neighbourhood, and he wondered if the two of them had a vested
interest in not letting the 4 of them into the bar.

They took the scenic route north toward Hartranft Street before
turning left at Hartranft Street on to S Broad St / PA-611 for
several 1/2 a km. They continued straight on S Broad St / PA-611
before taking the I-95 S ramp on the left to the I-76 for a 20
metres. They merge onto the I-95 S past the Reserve Basin where the
American ships could be seen in the distance. "The Hit" was starting
to realize the difference between Canadians and Americans during the
trip. They loved their history, and they loved their military.
Canadians knew little of their history, and they didn't have the knack
for the killing. Meanwhile, they too Exit 15 to merge onto Enterprise
Avenue toward Island Avenue as Bill and "The Hit" talked about a
successful trip. They turned right on to Island before turning right
into Westin Suites at 4101 Island Avenue in Philadelphia. "The Hit"
thanked Bill for his help, and they agreed to talk more when "The Hit"
returned to Burnaby.

Meddling

The steel Warships in Reserve Basin may have been active in the Korean
War from 1950-53 when the United States chose to get involved between
North and South Korea, and the American glory and killing included
over 36,600 US military. While losing or fighting to a standstill in
Korea in 1950-1953, President Truman ordered the US Seventh Fleet
between Korea and mainland China. In 1954-1955 America occupied China
as naval units evacuated US civilians and military personnel
(Intelligence) from the Tachen Islands. The Americans had barely
buried their dead when they started their meddling in Vietnam by
sending military advisors into Vietnam on February 12 1955. Meddling
takes time to create problems, and America occupied Egypt in 1956 with
a marine battalion to evacuate US nationals and other persons
(Military Advisors) from Alexandria during the Suez crisis. American
foreign policy in the Middle East had heated up the entire region
since the end of WWII. The strategically placed meddling surfaced
again in Lebanon in 1958 as Marines landed in Lebanon by order of the
American President. The action was supported by a Congressional
resolution passed in 1957 that authorized such actions in that area of
the world (Middle East). "The Hit" remembered something he had read
about at the University of Saskatchewan. American Foreign policy in
the Middle East was designed to destabilize.

In Saskatoon, "The Hit" kept working the night shift in September
1980, and he attended the University of Saskatchewan during the day.
Merle was replaced by Toby Forest on the night shift part time, and
"The Hit" met Penny during the night shift at the Husky Car Truck
Stop. Penny was a young woman who was partying a lot in 1980, and she
would hang around the Husky Truck Stop at night. Toby was getting to
know Penny, and the three of them started to hang out at the house
trailer when "The Hit" had time. Toby met a few of Penny's friends,
and eventually they started to party on a regular basis at 20 Star
Trailer Court in Saskatoon. Meanwhile, "The Hit" started to skip
classes at the University of Saskatchewan, and he was more interested
in living than furthering his education. It was easy to start
skipping classes after working all night at the Husky Car Truck Stop.
It was easy having a little money, instead of being a broke student
all the time. Meanwhile on March 20 TH of 1998, "The Hit" was ready to
move to the downtown east side of Vancouver.

The last week of March went quickly on Victoria Drive, and Sveta
started on a C application to help sort in changes to the database for
$50.00 American. "The Hit" brought in a phone, cable television, and
high speed Internet access using Telus DSL services. The Hit started
to walk to Commercial Drive on a daily basis. There were regular
trips to Normans Fruit and Salad, and Super Valu on Commercial Drive,
and "The Hit" tried to get out on the drive on a daily basis. He
wrote a letter to Garth's mother letting her know that he would give
her and Garth something out of his share if David was able to keep the
project funded. He tried to explain that he needed a partner who
could handle the business end of the project, and Garth had a lot on
his plate at the time. "The Hit" explained that he had not touched
the money in the HSBC account since David has suggested their
partnership. There was over $2000.00 in the account for her and
Garth. He was sorry for leaving them, however he had every intent of
considering them seed money out of his shares. Life on Commercial had
no Black Van, however it was no bed of roses either.

On November 15 TH, "The Hit" watched the Saskatchewan Roughriders
defeat the Edmonton Eskimos is a nail biter. His team won 31 to 30 in
the last few seconds of the game. Then, "The Hit" prepared himself to
call his brother in St. Brieux Saskatchewan. While, he knew his
father had passed away in the spring of 1997 in New Westminster when
he received the letter from his brother, he had avoided contact.
Jimmy The Junkie, Little Mike, Mike, and Jeff were already working him
in New Westminster. There was also the events on Columbia Street in
New Westminster. "The Hit" was just hoping that there was no more bad
news as he called Leo's number after the game. The end of the game
and the time zone differences would make it an evening call for Leo.
"The Hit" felt guilty, and the call dialled through the lines. He
missed 7 years of their lives to avoid the stigma of the town drunks
son!

"The Hit" could see the payphone 604 253 9804 on the corner of
Victoria and Venables. The phone booth is kitty corner across the
street in view from his computer desk in the kitchen through the north
side window of his suite. During the end of April and early May 1998,
the phone was used repeatedly by several people to call either Jimmy
The Junkie and his Crew, Becky's Family, or the Hell's Angels. "The
Hit" was noticing that more and different people were keeping a really
close eye on him at his point. Meanwhile, David and "The Hit" go over
the "demo version" running on the Internet, Onlineglass-com is renamed
Speedeclaim-com, Speedeclaim-com gets its own DNS, "The Hit" is
finishing his draft of the business plan, and Stuart Silber of AYW
loans David $100,000.00 for the project. David deposits the funds
into the Pearls of Pristine account until Speedeclaim-com has a
corporate vehicle for a bank account.

Conspiracy to Commit Murder

In Saskatoon, Donny moved into a trailer in Star Trailer Court which
his brother Lloyd had bought. Lloyd and Kathy were living in Star
Trailer Court, while they tried to keep the Martinsville Car Wash and
Gas bar above water. Donny needed to save money, and he started
working for Lloyd in a last ditch effort to save the Martinsville Car
Wash. Donny chose to move out of "The Hit's" trailer in 1981 at the
end of March. In shear coincidence Kevin and Garth needed a place in
April because one of their parties got out of hand, and they were
evicted from their house. They contacted "The Hit" who needed the
money. Kevin and Garth moved into "The Hit's" place in April 1981 for
a short period of time while they got their feet on the ground. "The
Hit" had finally decided to quit University, and he started looking
for a real job!

In the first week of December, "The Hit" worked on the software
project while trying to ignore the drive byes during the day and
night. Finally, he caught a ride to the Brentwood Mall with Bob. He
knew Cayla liked soccer, and he was able to find a soccer ball at the
Champs Sports store in the Mall. He found it interesting that she
would like soccer, as he played a lot of soccer when he was younger.
He knew she was going to try to get into organized soccer in
Saskatoon, and she was already playing the game in her photo album.
He also bought her a little software for their new computer. He
decided his travelling weight and bulk was getting high even for the
train. He also knew that he would have to book his ticket for the VIA
train on December 7 TH for the 2 week booking discount. He decided to
mail the ball and software from the ground floor Canada Post outlet in
the Mall, after he had it wrapped by the Brentwood Mall Christmas
wrapping staff. FInally, he was feeling sick and tired from the
Hepatitis C, and he decided it was time to go home. Santa Clause was
tired out!

In 1998, "The Hit" checked the time as he prepared to walk to the
Britannia Policing Station at 1661 Napier Street next to the Britannia
Pool. He walked out of the front of the house with the loaded sawed
off shotgun in the bag. He turned south on Victoria Drive knowing
that the Policing Station was going to be open. He walked 2 blocks
south to Napier Street, before he turned west towards Commercial
Drive. He crossed Salsbury Drive, and he arrived at the corner of
Napier and Commercial Drive. He crossed Commercial Drive, and he had
second thoughts about what he was doing? Should he be turning over
his protection in the gun amnesty program? He needed time to think!
He walked one half block north on the west side of Commercial Drive,
and he decided to think in a public place. He stepped into the Pizza
Garden at 1042 Commercial Drive. There was a short line during the
dinner hour, and he waited for a few seconds. He looked around and
noticed a very shocked looking man who may very well have known what
was going on that day. He looked like an older, slightly taller
version of BJ. Then, his turn came up for the hostess, and he made an
excuse that he would not have time. He left. He walked north on
Commercial Drive and he turned right on Napier. He walked up to the
Britannia Policing Station at 1661 Napier Street to turn over the
sawed off shotgun.

"The Hit" turns away from the VIA Rail ticket counter and the man from
Saskatoon has vanished. Could it be that Saskatoon was here for the
two little letters on "The Note". HA. Two little letters that Jimmy
The Junkie laughed at in New Westminster? But "The note" was about 4
junkies and home invasions. "The Hit" felt like there was worms
swimming in his stomach for the first time. This was going to be
bad. For the first time "The Hit" was starting to realize that Jimmy
The Junkie, his Crew, and the "Mysterious Financier" might be setting
up the Saskatoon Rebels? When "The Hit" was in Saskatoon the local
bikers were the Saskatoon Rebels. Was that the connection to this man
"The Hit" definitely recognized from Saskatoon? There was something
wrong! "The Hit" knew the Saskatoon bikers were Rebels not, HA.
Could things have changed since the late 1980's?

New Westminster, Coquitlam, and Surrey floated by the windows on both
sides of the Skyline Lounge, before "The Hit" ordered another beer.
The Fraser Valley looked different from the train tracks, and the
scenery was changing to darkness as The Canadian Train worked it's way
through less populated areas around Pit Meadows, Maple Ridge, and Fort
Langley. "The Hit" had hoped Jimmy The Junkie, Little Mike, Mike,
Jeff and their Mysterious Financier would not follow him to Saskatoon,
however as he sat in the Skyline Lounge he noticed a few repetitive
faces as The Canadian Train approached Mission at 20:05 to load more
passengers. The question that kept nagging "The Hit" was who was the
Mysterious Financier, and why was the Mysterious Financier going
through all this effort? Why not just kill him? Why keep following
him today through the Pacific region into the Rocky Mountains. What
kept Jimmy The Junky and his Crew joined at the hip with the
Mysterious Financier?
