First off, thanks to all who have contributed to this site and this
group. You've all done a great job of getting the SDSC off the
ground.
I was in Alberta during the early part of the ADSMC, and saw that club
go through some growing pains. It started like this one did - a small
group of guys riding together. Then it reached the stage we're in now
- where the club is big enough that you have quite a bit of
diversity. When this happens, you end up having several core groups
in the club with guys (and girls - hopefully) who are into like-minded
riding (i.e. adventure touring, hardcore off-roading, or somewhere in
between). You also start to get differing opinions on the site and
club, which we may be starting to see.
This club's mandate is and will always be to provide a place for like-
minded dual-sporters to get together. It has done that and is
continuing to do so. Having said that we have hit the stage where a
facelift may be in order, and one is actually already in the works. I
can't say for sure when we'll be rolling it out, but hopefully later
this summer. Corney does have a point though, that riding season is
upon us, so our free time may be better used riding than sitting in
front of the computer. So it may take a little longer to roll out
than it should.
Thanks Calltrex for your opinions. It may have been worded a bit
harshly, but it's good to see new people coming on board with a desire
to improve the club. There are others who agree with you that an
update is due, and we may call on you to help with one if you're
willing. For now we need to see where things stand before determining
how to proceed. Keep your eyes on the forum here for info as it comes
out, and opinions from all members are welcome.
