We're screening a film on a French auto strike where workers took their bosses hostage. Also, we'll be discussing the film and the strike with organizers from a Bay-Area left party with ties to the workers at the plant. Hope to see you there!
When: Friday, Jan 17th, 7PM
What: We will be joined by bay area members of the Revolutionary Workers Group, a left party with ties to French organizers to discuss and screen the film "Les Contis: The Struggle Continues."
In Spring 2009, More than 1,000 workers at the Continental tire factory in Clairoix, France, were told that their plant would close for "economic reasons." Much like in the U.S. today, French companies are making workers pay for the worldwide economic crisis caused by the banks and corporations.
The workers of Continental, "Les Contis," had a different idea. With the help of revolutionary activists, they went on strike to defend their jobs and to link their struggle with workers across Europe facing the same attacks.
Bon Travail!
