Moira Birss has just returned from two years working as an human
rights observer in San Jose de Apartado and Bogota, Colombia. After
suffering terrible political violence, mostly by paramilitary groups
supported by the Colombian army, San Jose de Apartado has taken a
neutral, non-violent stance in Colombia's civil war. For more on her

Phil Neff is a graduate student at the University of Washington. In
2008 he worked as a human rights accompanist in Guatemala and has
continued working on issues of Latin American solidarity in the United
States.
