I recently received a message about the Stop Spewing Carbon Campaign's
drive to get signatures for a ballot initiative; please see below.
SASEA opposes the large scale wood burning biomass to electricity
facilities being proposed for the Pioneer Valley because of the non
sustainability as well as the health implications. We urge you to get
involved and join the signature campaign. The ballot referendum
creates for a very meaningful law in limiting the amount of CO2
producton per kilowatt hr of energy to be generated. If you have

It’s happening! The Stop Spewing Carbon (SSC) Campaign is out on the
streets getting signatures to go to the ballot! We have 29 volunteers
right now, each of whom is committed to 8 hours or 200 signatures by
June 23. Please sign up to be one of 71 more volunteers so we can
reach our goal of 20,000 signatures (11,000 certified) by June 23.
Consider asking a friend to volunteer with you – it’s great to work
with someone you know. This campaign is fun, it’s rewarding, it’s
worthwhile, and it’s a very exciting and historic grassroots
movement.

Collecting signatures for the ballot initiative during the next five
weeks is one of the most important things you can do to help defeat
the biomonster that is threatening our communities in Massachusetts.
We need about 4,000 signatures each week for the next five weeks (Note
that these have to be NEW signatures -- if someone signed last year
then they cannot sign this time around). We are scheduling people in
front of busy grocery stores because that brings the best results --
about 25 signatures per hour. We will schedule you in at your
convenience -- at a time and location of your choosing -- we have
training materials for you, and we will support you to help get you
going.
