Hi trimming!
Very pleased that you've joined us.  I aim to recruit more members during the coming season and this is an encouraging start.  The more club members who use this service, the more useful it will be to all of us.

I'm experimenting with a feature of Google Groups based on the group manager sending email invitations to prospective members.  This seems to work very well for people who use gmail.com mail accounts.  As soon as they click on the link in the invitation they become members and their gmail signin is also their group signin.  Joining is easy for gmail users - that's probably why half the members of our group sign in with a gmail.com account.

It's a little trickier for prospects who use other kinds of email accounts.  These can also be used, but there's an extra step required to create a google account based on the non-gmail account.  More details than I want to go into here.  But I will be at the Registration sessions on October 19 and November 16 to walk people through the process.  If anybody knows of a club member who would like to be in our group, ask them to talk to me or leave a message at 403-266-0003.

Sounds like a good idea.  What about using the regular list that has most of the email addresses to let more members know about the convenience of gmail and the google group.  Cheers, Carol
