We have just started using this Google site for club activities, so
any and all ideas are welcome. I'm just wondering how we would work
this particular one (like you, I am a newbie this year).

The "Bible" for club activities are the Monthly newsletters. This site
was going to tag onto primarily the weekly outings which have
regularly scheduled trips to Nakiska and Norquay. In addition, there
are ad hoc trips to Lake Louise and Sunshine (the latter sometimes as
part of a major overnight trip).

I'm guessing we would mark the dates in Google Calendar and then
anyone with a car would add their availability to drive. I'm not sure
how the allocation of people to specific vehicles takes place. I
suspect this would probably be outside the Google site itself but
leave the details to those that have done this before.

I certainly agree with the Google Calendar. This would be wonderful.

HI I am a new member this year.  I am wondering if anyone has looked
into using the google calendars  to display the trips and carpool
events in a calendar format. this would make it easier to see what
trips are going where and when. If I want to ski next week I can go to
the calendar and see where people are going, then I can join one of
their trips.
Any comments?

Bob

Thank you for Jim's name. I will try to find his address and forward a copy of a calendar that I made up today.

Here is a link to the Calendar that I have created. I do not know how
to make a permanent link to the site. If anyone knows how to do this
and if it is ok with the club I will put it up there.

This calendar looks good Bob. I accessed from my Outlook email (I get
copies of these emails). In that instance you need to add
BobH...@Telus.net as a calendar you want to see (Google asks for
shared calendars along the left hand side of the screen). We then see
Bob's Calendar where he has put the Thursday trip to Sunshine.

Btw, I was at Sunshine today as well. Managed first tracks after
sending Faye off to the dreaded Pender Island! Absolutely awesome with
powder stashes to be had for everyone. Finally came home as my ankles
were getting worn rubbing on my boots. ;-)

I can't make Thursday this week due to work commitments Bob, but
Sunshine is definitely the place to be this week. I will be thinking
fondly of this past Sunday's runs.

I really like your calendar idea and I think it will work nicely for
everyone once they get used to it.

John
