My wife and I have exchanged Valentine cards since we were kids. However, we
have a little routine that has saved us a bundle of bucks over the years.

When we're shopping at Kmart during the Valentine season, we stop by the card
racks. We each find cards for the other and hand it to them. We read the
cards, say, "Thank you," exchange a quick kiss and replace the cards back in
the rack. Let's see. . . if we bought two cards at $1.50 each for forty years
and if interest was a nominal 6%, we've saved $464.29. <grin>

Well aren't you cheap! When Valentine day comes along, my wife and I go to the
most expensive card shop in the triangle and exchange every card, gift and
tree ornament in the whole darn shop before putting it back. I figure we've
saved enough to buy a new house.

That's OK when your wife is young. Mine is old, so there's no need to do
expensive things. She's already made up her mind about me. <grin>
