Opening this Friday, May 15, at Raleigh Little Theatre, in the Gaddy
Goodwin or City Stage Theatre is Most Valuable Player. Curtain is at 7:30
on Friday nights, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00. The show runs
through May 23.

Most Valuable Player is a young person's play, suggested for ages 11 and
up. The Jackie Robinson story focuses on his character and courage in being
the first black man in all-white major league baseball. Characters include
Leo Durocher, Al Campanis, Pee Wee Reese, and Branch Rickey, among others.

I have seen this show in rehearsal and have been very impressed with the
script, the performances, and the technical elements (slides of the real
persons portrayed on four screens, realistic music and voice overs, and
stylized lighting). The cast of five truly form an ensemble, and their
respect for one another and for the life of Jackie Robinson comes through.
It is a wonderful, entertaining, painless educational and informative
theatre experience directed by Maggie Rasnick, RLT's Youth Theatre
Director.

For tickets, call the Raleigh Little Theatre Box Office at 821-3111 between
the hours of 12:00 and 5:00, except performance dates, when the box office
is open until performance time. Tickets are $8.00 for adults, and $6.00 for
students and children.
