The collectible Enigma Code fragments are hidden in the game world, appearing as red booklets with a black Wolfenstein logo on the cover, followed by the words "GEHEIM - Enigma Codes". Most code fragments are scattered about in the open just up for grabs, though others are located well out of sight, usually requiring the player to traverse a hidden, sometimes dangerous area to reach. Interacting with certain objects in the environment in a correct manner will sometimes yield cleverly-hidden code pieces.
There are a total of 72 enigma codes that are scattered around the entirety of the game's Campaign. Each of these codes contain a particular pair of digits separated by a colon (e.g, "Code fragment 1:1") that are part of a larger code necessary in order to crack the four enigma secrets. Thus, each secret will contain 18 codes.
Set in an alternate '60s where the Nazis won the Second World War, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a fast-paced, modern take on the classic FPS franchise. With ferocious and empowering combat masking a surprisingly nuanced narrative in a modernised dystopia featuring a battle-hardened resistance, brutalist concrete mega-structures, and wonder weapons.
One relic of the past still found in this new order is the enigma code. Collecting all of them and cracking the codes in the extras menu will unlock four new gameplay modes, including the hardcore, ironman, and 999 options. So in this guide, we'll run through where to find all of the enigma codes in the game.
You'll need to grab some explosives to enter the bunker, take them from the small store room, and use them on the nearby blast door. When you enter, turn right into the pillbox lit by red light. The code is on a crate near the window.
Deal with the second AA gun and head outside. When you go to open the next door, a Panzerhund will try to eat you. After Wyatt plays forbidden fetch with the beast, he offers a hand up. Do not grab it yet!
After opening the gate for your crew and heading further into the castle, you'll need to cross some planks over a collapsed corridor floor. Look down from the planks, and you'll find a code on a crate.
Go to the large circular room with the massive portrait of Deathshead flanked by knight statues; the left statue is holding its sword skewed. You can interact with the sword to straighten it, which moves the picture and reveals a secret passage.
When you reach the courtyard and once you've killed all the Nazis there, head toward the crashed plane and look for a hole in the wall before you get there. The code is on top of some rubble in that hole.
After waking up from Blazkowicz's coma, head to the southeast corner of the floor you're currently on. Follow the back corridor to the white main staircase. Go up the stairs to find the enigma code on the floor, next to the furniture barricade.
Once you get out of Anya's grandparents' car at the checkpoint, go left from the car and into the sewer pipe. You'll enter a room with another sewer pipe in front of you. The first enigma code is to the left of this pipe, next to the doorway.
Move into the large building closest to your car, and go to the top floor. Go across the catwalk and into the room with the commander. The next enigma code is on the desk in the left corner of the room as you enter.
During the chapter, you'll reach a command room with a large truck blueprint on a wall. Facing the blueprint and looking left, you'll see a bunch of lockers, there's an enigma code inside locker 43.
When you've raised the platform and taken the car to the last checkpoint, head to the single-story building at the bottom of the hill. Go inside and head to the back of the sleeping quarters, with the radio setup in the back-left corner. The final code of chapter three is on top of a radio.
Grab the folder and head to the filing cabinets on the opposite side of the room to the chalkboard, then place the folder in the open cabinet drawer, and a secret door will reveal itself. Head through the tunnel and find the codebook in an opened briefcase on the desk.
Once you go through the pipe to get inside the prison building, you'll be chased by a Panzerhund, dropping down a hatch for safety. In the corridor, there are two wire mesh fences, cut through the one on the left and drop down. Start heading upstairs again to find the enigma code on the floor.
Later, you'll crawl into a toilet block. From here, into the corridor, past the guards' dormitory and dog, then go left into the security room with a commander inside. The next code is underneath the TVs in an open briefcase.
Once you've rescued your allies, your companion will eventually lift open a door for you. When you're through, deal with the guards and head to the desk area surrounded by metal bars. The code is on the desk furthest away from your entrance, next to a radio.
From the desks, keep following your ally. He'll take you upstairs through a small corridor of Nazis. After this, you see a doorway leading upstairs; go up to reach a room of computer desks and filing cabinets. The final enigma code for this chapter is in the open briefcase on the desk.
Just before the London Nautica entrance, you're attacked by a robot who throws you away. Once he's lobbed you, turn around and run over the rubble to the back-left corner of the area. Keep going past the ammo and grenade to find the enigma code.
Once you've defeated the robot, head into the London Nautica lobby, where you'll be greeted by lots of Nazis. Immediately look to your left and go into the office. The next code is on the office chair next to the desk.
Go into the huge circular room with several shiny statues surrounding a moon in the centre. Take the stairs to the top and go inside the control room above the moon. The enigma code is to the right of the lever, on the control panel.
Once you enter the London Nautica lab, face the testing chamber and look at the workbench on your right. Go to the opposite side of the bench and find the enigma code tucked into a cubicle next to a no-smoking sign.
Finally, after defeating the giant robot, climb the ladder and head to the hangar door control room. Look around the control panel in the middle of the room to find the last enigma code of chapter six.
Once you've spoken to Set Roth, head to the corpse chute of the security building and enter. Go straight ahead and up the stairs to the raised floor. The first enigma code of the chapter is on a metal crate at the back-right corner.
After escaping from the incinerator, head upstairs and across the catwalk. Go through the door, turn right, and enter the medicine room (the door has a white first aid cross on a green background). There is a trolley on your right, next to the cabinets. The next code is on the base of the trolley.
You'll venture over to the other side of the compound to find a tall building with scaffolding. Climb to the top balcony and go inside. Head into the first room on your left and look in the filing cabinets next to the window - the next enigma code is in the top drawer of the middle cabinet.
From the locker, go down the nearby staircase and over the stair ledge towards the desk. Turn around to face the stairs, and you'll see the enigma code on top of some books on the base of a small trolley.
Now go across the ground floor and into the garage, where you'll want to head to the detronic battery, but don't grab it yet. Go to the locker next to the pillar in the workshop area and grab the last enigma code of the chapter.
After adjusting the waterwheels, you'll need to raise the water level to continue. When you reach this basin, the ladder to your right is broken, while the ladder to your left will take you to the water level controls.
Now the water level is raised, head to the next section of the sewer with two mines in the water. Detach both mines from their chains to explode the grates and swim through the first tunnel. Climb out using the stairs to your left, then go down the corridor to your right.
Now go back into the water and swim through the second exploded grate. Keep going until you reach the last set of stairs on the left. Climb up the stairs and head to the collapsed shelf next to the door. The next enigma code is on this shelf.
Go through the door and in front of you should be a massive metal grate with a hole in it. Drop down the hole and run through the pipe until you reach a ladder. Climb it and look toward the open door; there are two shelves on the wall next to it - the one closest to the ladder has an enigma code.
Once you get to the train tracks, follow the leftmost tracks, and hug the left wall until you reach the platform steps. Crouch under the platform to get behind these stairs to find another codebook.
Next, head onto the platform and make your way to the left wall. Follow this into a small storage area directly below the control room. An enigma code will be on the shelf to the right of the door across from you.
You need to either hotwire the door into the officer quarters or lockpick the door into the armoury, and then cut away the metal panel into the bedroom. Once inside, you'll find the first codebook on the bed.
Later, you'll drop down into the bridge with green-glowing monitors in the middle of the room. After clearing the area, go upstairs to the back of the room and head toward the periscope with the red chair. There's a small control panel next to them that has an enigma code on it.
Go back to the exit of the train car you were at and climb up the carriage with the turret. Jump to the bridge across from the turret carriage (the same bridge where a Nazi is holding onto his friend over the bridge), head left, then go into the bridge tower with the open door.
Now head back to the turreted train, climb to the top of it and drop into the double-decker passenger carriage below. Go to the end of the car, but before climbing out of the door, turn left to access the top floor of this carriage. Get to the back of the car and the next code is on the floor.
