Cross-IDE compatibility is one of our next big goals in the planning. We are still in a very early stage on that front, so I can't give you any indication on when it is going to happen.

The plan is to first have a look at the current feature set and find out what needs to get cut/adjusted to allow for cross-IDE compatibility. (Currently, it looks like this will mostly boil down to cutting the "Create Project" option as part of the session initialization. It requires IDE-specific setups that are hard to transfer/adjust from one type of IDE to another, especially with custom project types or weird setups.) We will try to involve the community in this process to ensure that we don't drop anything (too) important in the pursuit of cross-IDE compatibility.

Once a new target feature set is decided on, we will create a plan on what steps to take on the way towards cross-IDE compatibility. But, next to the feature adjustment, this will most likely also require some major internal adjustments, so the implementation will take a while as well.

In short, it is still some time off, so I wouldn't get my hopes up in the near future. ;) But we are actively working on it.

Once the official process for this starts, there will also be more official updates on this project. So if you are interested in contributing to the process, there will most likely be enough stuff to do to go around, so look out for the announcement of the development plan. :)

Nice thanks for the information, friend switched to intell for the time being, had some hiccups but was mainly down to setting up being a bit unclear.
Looking forward to cross comp!
Keep up the good works haha

So far it seems to run smooth as...basically possible specially for an alpha build

Thanks, feedback is always appreciated (and positive ones even more so). =)
I would like to improve the documentation to avoid such issue in the future, so I would be very interested in hearing what part of the setup documentation (for Saros/I or in general) was unclear/missing. Could you give me more details on that?

While setting everything up on intellij, it took a bit to find some sections such as:
  • Choose “Settings…” > “Plugins”. (Which is located under "File") <- This through me for a loop no big deal really.

From here i read through the disclaimer, the Features, etc.

It explained how to add an account(existing) to the intellij section but never did the wiki explained how to "create" an account for it.
Since you guys explain you arent yet able to do it via your own system(or similar) a different client must be used for this purpose
I found no reference to known clients on doing this.

Friend helped be out by referring me here:

Where after i was able to create an account so i could connect with Saron in Intellij
From there i was finally able to connect.

I will update it anyways.

Also, the rest of the installation instructions (especially regarding the settings layout) won't always be 100% accurate as they currently only reflect the latest layout of the plugin settings. IntelliJ changed the layout multiple times over last few major updates, so some confusion can't be avoided in this regard when using older versions.

We were previously only using in-band registration (i.e. registering an account through your client), but we had to shut it down as it was abused by spammers (and we didn't have captcha support in the Saros logic).
When switching to the signup page, we only announces it on the mailing list but forgot to update the documentation. (The Saros/E documentation still contains the picture referencing in-band registration.)

I will update the instructions to mention/link to the signup page.
