Hello all,

I am relatively new to the world of HF; the base radio and multi-band dipole antenna were recently installed.

Radio: Icom 7100
Antenna: EAntenna Multi Band Wire Antenna EA10152040DXS
Coax Cable: TIMES MICROWAVE SYSTEMS LMR-400

I can receive PSK-31 well on 20m, but am experiencing significant reflected power and high SWR when TXing as displayed on the MFJ-949E.

I purchased (and just received) the SARK110 due to its ability to analyze multi-band antennas. Based upon the scenario presented, would it be possible to offer suggested SARK 110 diagnostic tests / steps  and / or hypothetical corrective measures?

Thanks much.

Here are initial captures from the SARK 110 of the multi-band dipole and a 5/8 wave 2m antenna. Analysis explanation would be appreciated. Thanks, KE0EMJ

Multi-band view. Impressive!

GE,
From looking at your SARK SWR charts It looks like your HF antenna as a whole is a little on the long side.  The minimum SWR points are below the bottom of the band edges.  From looking at the picture of your installation I can understand why.  Your installation is ok, it is just that it is fairly close to the house roof and fairly low to the ground.  Anytime you place an antenna fairly close to other objects it will tend to lower the resonant frequency of the antenna.  (make it look longer electrically)   If you can't raise the height of the antenna then you will have to trim a little bit of length off each end of the antenna until the minimum SWR point for each band falls with in the band. (or where ever you want them to be.)

You can contact me off list if you would like me to talk you through it.
