Kashf-ul-Mahjoob (کشف المحجوب), or Kashf al-Mahjub, is the first ever Persian book written on the philosophy and practice of Tasawwuf (Islamic Sufism). The author Hazrat Sayyid Ali bin Usman Hajveri is a highly celebrated Sufi saint of Pakistan, often called Data Ganj Bakhsh. The book was written in Farsi, but has been translated in many other languages. In Urdu alone, there are more than a dozen translations. The presented edition is one of the best Urdu translations by Allama Fazl-ud-Din Gohar, and published by Zia-ul-Quran Publications, Lahore, in 2010.

Hazrat Sayyad Ali bin Usman Hujweri Lahori (d. 465 AH / 1072 or 1073 CE), (سيد علي بن عثمان الهجويري) quddis sirrahu is the renowned Sufi shaykh of 5th century Hijri and is well known with his title Data Ganj Bakhsh. He was originally from Hujwer, a town in Ghazni (now Afghanistan), and later migrated to Lahore for the propagation of Islam and Sufism. He was a sayyid from the line of Sayyidina Imam Hasan, and his mother was from the line of Imam Hussain, may Allah be pleased with them both.
