Hello archives people,

I wanted to start this thread for folks to weigh in their thoughts on us making SARA a 501c3.

This would require extra work on our behalf.  Initially we would have to create by-laws and an article of incorporation.

There are fees involved in filing the paperwork.  From what I can tell it looks like $300ish to cover the fees.  That shouldn’t be hard for all of us to chip and to cover.

Of course, after the initial set-up we would have to keep up with filing tax reports each year.  They should be fairly straightforward and simple to do, but will nonetheless be a task that has to be done.

I do want us to make a decision if we want to move forward with this.  I’m happy to take the lead if it is something you want to do.

Let’s use this next week to voice our thoughts via email.  I’ll create a poll late next week and we can go from there.

My best,

Leslie
