Attached are the Southeast results from racing at Dogwood, which will serve as the basis for seeding at SE Regionals, along with FSRA (Florida) Regatta results. Reps from each of the subregions (listed below) will use this information and any additional information you may present to seed crews at Regionals. It is my job to accumulate relevant information from our area for the Southeast Youth Council and get it to the reps.
This is not a perfect process, so we will seek additional information from you. We can assume that you will advocate for your crews if this information is insufficient or inaccurate.
By crowdsourcing this information, I hope to learn about spring regatta successes (or failures) for your Regionals A-Boats which are not revealed by Dogwood results. For example:
If your A-boat for Regionals previously trounced teams ranked higher at Dogwood
If they beat a Florida crew in another spring regatta
If you expect an unusually strong crew for some other reason
(e.g. your two fours did very well at Dogwood and are now your 8+ crew)
If you expect a weaker crew than the results indicate (different rowers?)
If your crew is not listed in the rankings and you have information which might help rank it.
A CAVEAT
I do not organize or run this regatta. This is a USRowing Regatta. However, if you have issues with the general structure of the regatta, please let me know. If you have specific problems impacting your crew (fairness, refs, hotseating, etc) that is for the regatta organizers - not me.
LIGHTWEIGHT EIGHTS
We have little information about Lightweight 8+ crews, since there are no specific Ltwt 8+ events in regattas other than Regionals. If you raced a lightweight 8+ at Dogwood, please let us know - Charlotte's is the only one I am aware of.
Please reply to the group with any additions or corrections to the information attached. You may also correct posts sent to the group on this topic, but let's keep it civil.
URGENCY
Please share any additional information ASAP as I am facing a deadline as below.
SEEDING PROCESS
The process from the regatta packet, is below. You will note that I am the USRowing YAC Southeast Rep, not Allen Eubanks as listed in the packet:
Seeding and lane assignments for USRowing Southeast Junior District Championship qualifying events
will be done using the Southeast Youth Coaches’ Poll, no consideration is given to regional distribution.
Non-Qualifying events will be seeded randomly.
The votes are to be placed by the nine representatives of the Southeast Youth Coaches Council.
Representatives must submit their votes via e-mail to Byron Walthall at
byron.w...@gmail.com no
later than 11:59 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Representatives are not allowed to vote for their own
crew in the poll. After May 5, all voting is final.
Crews will be placed in the lane draw for heats based on the results of the Southeast Youth Coaches’
Poll.
Heat sheets with seeded lane draws will be posted on the USRowing web site no later than Thursday,
May 7, 2015.
